Hi all,

I currently am a delivery driver for a shop in NY. The shop is looking for a new delivery vehicle. I am wondering what other shops use for delivery vehicles. Currrently both of the vehicles haave high mileage. The owner would like something that gets better gas mileage.

Thanks for your replies.

Here's a link to a thread where delivery vehicles were discussed:

It's cool that you're a driver and visiting FlowerChat. I don't recall ever seeing a delivery driver posting here, but I think your input could prove valuable. Wait a minute...I take that back-we've all been drivers for our shops! I make deliveries on my way home all the time!

Welcome to FlowerChat!

Welcome........great threads on here about vehicles.........
I've delivered (hubby has, friends have) and right now I also have a delivery/designer and well trained she is !!
How detailed are you as a "designer"? In house training?

Hey Craig!!!! This is my delivery guy. He is a great delivery person (best we have ever had) and a great worker!! When deliveries are light he is always looking for something new to do.

My vote is YES!! Although, I may have to watch what I say on here from now on. hahaha.

Currently he is not a designer however, we have talked about training on customer service.

Hope you visit often.

Do tell us something about where you are, the business you drive for, weird and wonderful delivery experiences and the like. :)

The delivery person being perhaps the most important person n the shop - welcome!

Our Scion was the smartest purchase we've made since we bought our MAS system. I don't think anything can beat it for mileage, and it is a kick to drive.

I was at the Toyota dealer today trying out a Hybrid Highlander and asked about the new Scions and I was wrong by the way about them going to 6 cylinder - they have a different 4 than te 05's and 06's tho.

Those hybrids are freaking spendy if you lod them up - think I am going back to the soccer Mom van idea.

But when we need another delivery van it will 90% fershure be another Scion Xb. The new ones are lots bigger too. And only $17K and change.

Ditto on the Scion. We're a smallish shop and can easily fit 12 - 18 delivereis on a regular basis - less if funeral work of course. Easy to drive, easy to park (sometimes a big deal for folks), love it.

Bloomz, that's great news that they're still offering a small engine for cheapies like me. Not that we're ready yet, but still good to know.

welcome!

welcome to FlowerChat. Delivery Drivers are our front line people and VERY important to our images! You are the ones that most people see and hear. You get to learn flower design, mostly by necessity--so you will learn lots from some of what is shared here on the board. I would love to hear from you about your experiences "out in the field". Some of the people in our shops have had some interresting experiences while out on deliveries-as I'm sure you have too.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
I tend to agree that the Scion wouldn't really be a wise choice for us Northerners that have to deal with snow. I guess we are waiting for the dealer to find us a Pontiac Vibe with all wheel drive. If it wasn't for the SBA the Honda Element would be perfect I think. it has 4wd and the vinyl floor would be great. I wouldn't have to drive in a musty smelling van anymore!! lol. (And no Carrie... febreeze won't help it...it just makes it smell worse).

I saw a bright canary yellow colored Hummer some time ago going down the highway with "Extreme Flowers" on it. Awesome road marketing! Bet that is an interesting story...can't find anything local on it so they might have been "travelers" coming in for an event....

I got it!!!! We got our new delivery vehicle. Carrie was finally able to talk her mother into getting a new car. They got a 2008 Pontiac Vibe. It seems to be working out well, I think it was a great choice.

Thanks Carrie!!! LOL:grovel:
