Hi,

My name is Susan. I work part-time for J Ross Inc. located in Decatur, AL. I have been working in the florist industry for about 12 years. I am interested in opening my own floral shop one day, so I was hoping this forum would be an asset to me. I am looking forward to talking to new people and learning new things.

Is the shop name J Ross? Can't find it in my directory.

Yes, we have recently opened on Bank Street in Southeast Decatur. Ross changed the name when he opened the new shop. The old shops name was Etc. by Ross. Now it is J Ross Inc. I hope that helps. Thanks, Susan

OHHHHH a forum virgin.... oh goodie!!!

Seriously, I do have a question for you. You said you are working part time. Do you work full time at holidays? How long have you worked in the floral industry? What do you do at the shop?
Okay, maybe that was more than one question....

I can vouch for J Ross. . .

Ross is The Alabama State Designer of the Year and a Director in the Alabama State Florist Association.

J Ross is a REAL Florist and a darn good one.

Susan, make sure Ross gets you involved with the ASFA. . . .

It's Great to have another Alabama chatter. Welcome aboard.

PS: Get Ross online too!

Ross is great!! I hardly see him anymore. I only work when there are big weddings and when anybody needs off, and of course on holidays!! I moved andI stop working full-time when my son was born 4 years ago. Anyway, thanks for vouching that J Ross is real!! I'll tell him the next time I see him he needs to go on here. I would love for him to get me involved in ASFA.

Okay, maybe that was more than one question....

Yes, I usually work full-time during holidays.

I have worked in the industry 12 years.

I do about anything and everything I guess. Anything from washing buckets to doing a huge altar arrangement. Mainly, the orders that come in.

The reason why I only work part-time is because I have a four-year old and live 30 minutes away from the shop. It doesn't really pay for me to work, but I do love it. And thats why I chose to still work part-time.
I would love to open a floral shop in Courtland SOMEDAY. Don't know when, but someday. Probably when I find myself alone all day when my son goes to school.

I hope that answers some question.;)

I comend (sp?) you for being able to stay home with your son. I have three children 11, 7, and 3. When I was pregnant for my last I was out of work for most of the time and for some time after he was born. I LOVED it!! It was such a joy staying home with them. If I could still do it I would. Cherish these years with your son and remember how lucky you are to be able to have so much time with him.

Welcome to our FC family!!:bangles:
