So the new YellowBook came this morning, and there seems to be some new players in the game...

Most notably www.discountflorist.com with an Eflorist site from Teleflora... guy that owns it, MIGUEL LOPEZ ARELLANO also owns 800 more domains... this ad, in bold lettering states "Teleflora flowers by wire" starting at $24.99...

Another www.ezfuneralflowers.com is also owned by the same guy, each with a 1/4 page ad...

Thank Teleflora... you butt heads....

All the other usual suspects are listed too with a couple other new ones... www.alwayssendflowers.com and American Floral Delivery....

Sad.... but... y'all keep fill'n ya hear...

Thx for heads-up.

www.alwayssendflowers.com looks like Just Flowers in different clothing -but could be wrong.

www.ezfuneralflowers.com is trying to sell add-ons of Mylar ballons to funeral pieces...now that's an interesting concept.

Love the about us page ~ It makes it look like those people are going to make your design for you no matter what town you are sending too. DECEPTIVE!!

Love this LOL:

Holiday Deliveries: Any order received three days prior to a holiday is considered to be a last minute order and cannot be guaranteed for a specific delivery time or, delivery day.

We will make every effort to accommodate your delivery request. Due to some areas and zip codes that will be inundated with flower deliveries, it may take more than one day to make your delivery after the holiday.

We will make every effort to contact you by e-mail or, phone with the information you have provided us for any orders that may have a delivery problem.

Please be patient as our florist will do all they can to deliver a fresh arrangement for you as you have requested.

Guess that gets them out of delivery for any major holiday. I would say what 80% of our orders come in the day of or 2 days prior. Nice one. But sad that the everyday shopper will not even read all of the "fine print",

Although my library of images ( real pictures ) got burnt in a fire with other stuff of mine in storage........I actually HAVE created SEVERAL designs for sympathy featuring a mylar balloon and they were TOTALLY appropriate. The idea of balloons for funerals is not as far fetched as you might think Simon. I once SOLD a balloon release for a funeral ceremony. It was for a circus clown that passed away while the circus was in town performing. We were the florist chosen for the flowers and the circus wanted something unique. So I suggested a balloon release of bright colored latex. I rigged the release netting behind a large easel spray, and rigged it so one of the funeral directors has to pull a hidden string. Went over great. Another design that sold was a mylar balloon in the center of a casket spray. The balloon had a ring of orange roses on a white background with blue script that read "To love and be loved is the greatest joy of all" - I used that balloon in the center of a casket spray of orange roses, yellow asiatics, blue delphinium, and orange gerbera. There is yet another balloon that I have incorporated into a wreath SEVERAL times. It is a blue balloon with angels aound the periemeter and a verse that reads " He shall give his angels charge over you "

Don't be so quick to discount balloons for sympathy/funeral.......It can and does work.

Ricky,

Fair comment re. balloons. In fairness though, you made your balloons a focal point or key aspect of your executed concept. What the OG is pushing and what I specifically made comment about was the add-on aspect. However, your point is taken, thank you.

Balloons for funerals are actually very popular around here. Some of the population of people in our area view funerals as a celebration. In fact, the whole funeral process lasts several days to a week. The problem is that there are few very mylar balloons that are "appropriate" for funerals.

The other day was my first order for a sympathy balloon arrangement.
Luckily I had some pearl sheen latex, so it could at least be a bit elegant.
I am hearing more and more about "celebrating", lightening, & more entertaining
funerals.

Funerals should be a celebration of life.... maybe we need a "Happy RE-birthday" balloon....

While I still feel that balloons are not quite right for a funeral, the customer always is....right.....
