The Leafs are rumoured to have choosen a new GM. My opinion is, once again they have missed the boat, and did the stupid thing. They might as well walked down the street and asked the first person they seen to be GM. Couldn't been any worse. Things that should be done.

1. sell the raptors, take money from sale, buy out the teachers union, rent the ACC out to the Raptors and new owners when games are held.

2. Get rid of people like Blain Lastman, son of the Mayor of Toronto off one of the boards. Reduce the management boards to 1 central board.

3. Hand Quinn his walking papers.

4. Get rid of the players along for the ride, no production, say bye.

They could do well to learn from other teams like Colorado and the Wings, who actually win Cups.

Ferguson?????????????

If the rumours are true John Ferguson Jr. will be the new manager, question is how come? Don't know what he's done since his hockey career fizzled out in the AHL, has he held any management positions elsewhere , the only thing going for him is the name , and if he's anywhere never the "SOB" his old man was , lots of fireworks in hogtown this winter.

My understanding he was Assistant GM of the St. Louis Blues, in the legal department, it's been reported if a player had a problem they usually went to the GM's office and not with Ferguson. I expect the fans will be screaming again. Like honest to God what the hell is wrong with these idiots that run the team. You would think JOB #1 would be to deliver a Cup, deliver a Cup, and the fans would shut up for another 40+ yrs. :)

But hockey people seem to like him. Guys like Cliff Fletcher and Pierre ? from TSN speak very highly of him.

I think the T.O. media is blowing his lack of experience out of proportion. Realistically, he's not doing anything the next 2 yrs anyway. Quinn has the team set, the payroll is frozen, and then the lockout. We won't see him do much until 2005-6. Maybe by then we'll have dumped Quinn?

Best line in a while, from Bob McCown & Damian Cox dicussing how it was possible to interview someone for 12 hours straight. Cox explained the questionning was only the final hour, the first 11 were spent on Ken Dryden's preamble :)
