If there was a new wire service created by florists, for florists, with lower fees but no rebates and no order gatherers would you switch, and cancel your other memberships?

I would possibly join if there was enough coverage, but for the reasons listed on another thread. The other two serve very good purposes for me right now...

Not until there is a large database of flowershops across the country.

The key to a flower shop network is low fees and access. Right now we are dealing with 40 outgoing orders from one client that takes us to some really really really remote areas of KY, TN, IA, and NB.

Let me rephrase...........

These are orders that require two WS's, Google, Yahoo and a current Road Atlas.

So to answer your question, and I suppose mine from a previous somewhat notable thread, we need a significant database or a web-hub to easily transmit orders from one website to another.

Low member fees. Commissions????? maybe no,, a profitable service fee? definitely!

I am not looking for lower fees.

I would be only intrested in two things.

Don't Compete With Me.
And No Order Gatherers.

Transfering orders cost money. Thats something you must pay for.
No rebates becaue it is fuel to the dark side of this industry.

I believe this would be "a day late and a dollar short". Having a NEW WS, IMHO, would only appease some florists, but will do nothing for the consumer and the filling florists. The consumer has lost it's interest and need for a middleman. I feel it's an age demographics thingy, our parents and most of us are the baby boomers. We grew up with a great way to send some love(FTD) all over the world.

Todays buyers do not need a WS to send love or anything else for them, and most of the younger gen. are so far removed from doing it the same o', same o'.

There will be a few that will gain from lower fees, but most smaller florists will still remain fillers. And most small florists should not or can not give up that 20+ percentage, of basicly the only thing they would make money on, fresh flowers.

And if this new WS has another propritory computer attached to it, well just talk to the florists that are doing JAIL time now, and see if they can afford or want more JAIL time.

Flower Shop Network does all this . rAllow the florist to be you be independent and make money too. Instead of re-inventing the wheel if we all joined FSN we would be helping each other because they allow you to select the florist of your choice or they will select the florist sending and recieving order via your web site or phone in orders . All in one website. They offer email marketing ,Merchant services and more. Check it out flowershopnetwork.com

Would join, but not drop the others. Just get too many orders - especially THIS time of the year! (got 32 FTD, and 28 TEL...this MORNING...)
80% specials.

But, I would join it! You gotta support a group like that...the way a wire service should be!

PS - hey - if the "wire service" would have an EASY web-interface way to transmit orders, I'd break away from my "Mercury Only" transmission theology and use that...as long as it was EASY.

Another wire service has little value unless you intend to create a brand with this service. I do agree that slowly the sending business is dieing but that is just a matter of how people choose to place their order. If this new service was brand first with the florist having abilites to send orders we may very well drop one wire service to get involved in this. Lastly and Boss you and I do not agree on this but it would have to be run by someone not involved in the old FTD association for this to have much traction.

Ahhhh...but Steve... we do....

And Herb...think about this...those orders you are filling, once the OG machine dies, would revert back to florist generated orders....not from Da CoN's...

Listen folks...I do not have the Silver Bullet...(yet)... I'm trying to put together some data...trying to figure out what...if ANYthing will work going forward...

Sweetpeas said it - flowershopnetwork.com.

Not-so-funny thing is - many florists won't even take a look at it.

The best bet is to see what you can create WITH them if you want more than they offer.

They are years ahead of any start-up.

you know I do have an "editorial swing" for our state association's newsletter....and have really been wanting to do a diatribe ........
(maybe they'll fire me as editor after I do?)
But I would collect all the best arguements for an article regarding WS vs anything other than a WS??

Lower fees....great, no OG's....great.....but until a wire service makes it more profitable to FILL the order.......you basically have what we have now.

Exactly.

There have been fee structure change attempts before. They don't work because florists are happy to get orders under a revised fee structure. But they refuse to grease the wheels of the new system by sending orders through it. They go for the higher sending percentage and rebates of the broken system when sending every time.

IN these days of toll free numbers and business debit cards, combined with several online directories, why use a service at all?

Protection, protection, protection....

If the florist on the recieving end screws up and gives you the comment "to bad" you have recourse thru WS.

Re: Already got an option!

For those of you who REFUSE to be a member of, or send your money to, those WSs who COMPETE WITH YOU in their attempts to STEAL YOUR OWN CUSTOMERS out from under you, then, IFA may be your answer.

Just a BARE BONES ability to allow you to send your outgoing orders out through other florists who may be a member of a WS or used to be a member of one or even two.

Only $20 per month and ONLY when you send your orders out.

20% sending commission FORE YOU, 80% net to filler florist FORE THEM, and NO TRANSMISSION CHARGES.

80% NET TO FILLER is much better than 73% plus another 2%for REVERSE THE TRANSMISSION CHARGES, or the additional minus (9%) out of THEIR POCKETS via a WS order.

And so, WHAT'S IN YOUR WALLET?

www.myifa.org

Use a company credit card which gives you the most POINTS and the filler florist has THEIR MONEY in THEIR BANK ACCOUNT in 48 hours, NOT 48 DAYS.

Caveat: If you relish in FILLING HIGHLY DISCOUNTED WS orders, either from THEM from their own DOT.CONS, or for the OG SKIMMERS who have infested their networks, then, THE IFA BUD is NOT FORE YOU!

In my UMBLE OPINION, the last thing WEE need is another WS these days. Better we build upon what's going on now.

I'm IFA, and love it. If the new WS could compare with what TOTO said in the above post, I'd surely try it.

No New Wire Services Needed

If there was a new wire service created by florists, for florists, with lower fees but no rebates and no order gatherers would you switch, and cancel your other memberships?

Such a short question. But it INSPIRED the heck out of me!

I think that we need to completely re-think the entire issue of Wire Services. Frankly, I think that -- at least for US and Canadian marketing -- they have outlived their usefulness.

In their place, please see the attached WORD document.

Comments, anyone?

Bill

IFA may be your answer.

John, I would agree, except for one thing...how long would it take you to fax out the 178 orders I sent in the last 3 days?

I wish IFA would include the sending florists fax number on the orders they send me so I can send receipts and Dcons...would save me the calls to see if I got the fax.
