I am in the middle of leaving the Royal Air Force having been injured in Iraq, I have always loved flowers and been amazed by the technacalitites of floral design.
I have a young family and have decided to train to be a florist with my resettlement period (this is used to train soldiers to learn new trades) with the hope of eventually setting up a small home based business, I hope to donate some profits to the Royal British Legion and Help the Heroes Charities.

oh.....forgot to mention my whole reason for being here is too pick up tips and ideas and make frinds in the industry!:spintongu

First I'm glad you're home safe and reasonably sound.

Second, I'm glad you're finding your way in to the wild and wacky world of flowers.

Third and unforunately the most important point... this site is for professionals already working in the industry.

Please try again when you have completed your training and are working in a shop or have your own.

Many recommend a site called UBloom... that is likely the best choice for you at the moment.

One more thing... thank you for your important contribution in Iraq.

Take care and enjoy your journey!

Oh my goodness...just read some of the rejections and realised I am perhaps really out of my depth in here....however, if I may, I have had several business's whilst serving. I'm currently studying a city in guilds in Floristry and I'm going to the UK School of Floristry in two and a half weeks time, due to a poor pension and a young family I hope to have my whole business started and trading by valentines day.....I know this may seem a little ambitious but from work I have already done I know this is my vocation and one I am good at. All I am asking for is a chance to learn from you guy's so that I'm not going in completly blind.

Normally I would cast my vote as No to membership.......but in this case, although ubloom is a great site from which he can learn a great deal.......As long as he intends to make this a legitimate business......paying all the appropriate business fees, taxes, and things that we as professionals do........We could be in a lot of ways mentors to this person, for that reason, I am casting my vote as Yes for FlowerChat membership.

Thankyou RWK :blowkiss: , floristry is all I want to do and I will definatly be making a business out of it as soon as possible, the military prevents me from starting up until the end of my training period anway, but as I have already stated I'm trying to learn as much as possible with the vision of being set up and ready by February.

I am a female BTW.:pblush:
