Just listening to the news as I close up today...

The "talking heads" were discussing the possible names for the next governor's race in the Great State of California...

They were talking about......drum roll.... Meg Whitman!

Anyone remember Max Headroom? I miss him!

Fill me in...who is Meg Whitman? I do recall Max Headroom....

Meg, used to run FTD before she revolutionized eBay...

I am always amused at how the florists thought Meg was such a dodo. They did their best to get rid of her. I guess she showed them.

Actually, she may not have fit in FTD type business, but, I know personally many florists that were even mean to her and did nothing but make fun of her. I still know those florists today and not a one of them amount to anything.

Oh, ok I recall now who she is.

Feinstein..A BIG NOOOOOOO!!!

Say what you will about Meg Whitman - I had the opportunity to talk with her at length at one of our SCFA conventions. The lady made good sense. I told her I was NOT a shop owner, but as a designer, I had issues with what FTD was offering at the time and the branded arrangements. She took the time to at least seem to listen to my comments. Personally - I liked her.....I thought she would do well with FTD.

I honestly don't know if she was good or bad for our industry, but, just remember everyone trying to get rid of her. My point is: The floral industry thought she was too stupid to run the company, but, when we let her go.....she really took off and made a huge difference in the world. It makes me wonder if we missed something important.

I understand what you are saying about Bob also and it remains to be seen if he makes that same impact since we got rid of him. I just find the whole scenerio interesting.

Carol, I agree... on both counts.

Had either one of them been the head of ftdA we would be ruling the floral world today. But alas, hind sight is always clearer from a distance...

I just finished watching Meg Whitman do a 15 minutes interview on Neil Cavuto Show. She was pretty darn impressive. Of course, her thing is being fiscally responsible. She laid out several programs on how she planned to do that and it made a lot of sense to me.

Did any one else catch that show:
