After I switched to cable Internet I started receiving lots of pesky pop-ups every single time I clicked on Internet Explorer and well just all the time. Someone over at floristboard I think it was mentioned, no maybe it was here, well anyway, they mentioned the google taskbar remedy. Yeah it was here somewhere. I downloaded it and I have not received any pop-ups since then except maybe 3. It keeps track also, it says 679 pop-up ads were blocked. It has been wonderful. I hated those darn irritating things. Thank you to whoever suggested that.

I believe I mentioned the Goggle popup killer. I helped beta test it, and if you want pop-ups you can allow them very easy for each specific site. I allow popups for Flowerchat.com for example.

Oh ok,

so that was you! Well, I have to say thank you indeed. I thought they'd never go away. I tried something someone mentioned from the other board and it worked for one day and then they all started coming back. I tried something I found while surfing one day and that didn't work either.

My husband has something he just recently purchased over the Internet and pays $7.95 monthly for that gets rid of spyware. I was quite supriesed at how many sites use your cookies to target you with junk email. No wonder I have 35-50 a day in my junk folder. Do you know of anything free to help with spyware? I don't like being nickel and dimed to death with small bills. Thanks!

You can try out Spybot, I've used that. I'll look for the website later when I'm home and post it.

Before the goggle pop-up killer I used another program called Free Surfer which worked nicely also for me, the google one is just a little bit nicer and faster in my opinion.

I use both Free Surfer MkII ( www.download.com ) and the Google Toolbar. For spyware, I highly suggest a tag-team of Spybot Search and Destroy along with Ad-Aware. (both also available from www.download.com )

For an effective firewall, use Zonealarm. ( www.zonealarm.com )

Important note: Viruses most often infect by email BUT Worms get in through open "ports" on your system. You need a firewall.

Test your system at: http://security.symantec.com/default.asp?productid=symhome&langid=ie&venid=sym
