This has nothing to do with flowers--but--hope someone can give me some info. We have a new store coming into our small town. Pamida--have been told they are in the north. Can anyone enlighten me on this?? Have been told they are general merchandise similar to Walmart only smaller. True??
I have traveled a lot & don't remember ever seeing this name.

We have a Pamida in our little town, They have a small section of silks & supplies. At Memorial day they have a huge selection of cemetery memorial pieces, - lots of plastic stuff and the really cheap baskets. They do have poinsettias & easter lilies , but they are not taken care of well. Occasionally thru the year they bring in plants and have them really cheap also. Those are the times people buy them there instead of from me & then I can sell them the bug spray required to get rid of their pests!!! Absolutely drives me NUTS! :spintongu

If you're worried about them as a competitor, don't be. We have one in our area and I would say they typically have lower quality stuff than walmart--often send-outs that they may have gotten a good deal on. They're probably somewhere between Dollar General and Walmart as far as merchandise goes, although I must say, their newest ad did look more professional, like they are trying to appear more upscale--reminds me of the KMart ads they used to put out when we still had a KMart.

Pamida is like a really small Shopko or Walmart

A man named these stores after his sons: Paul, Mike, and Dave. We used to tease our kids that they were started by two old spinsters Pam and Ida and that they sat up in the big black security bubbles on the ceiling to pick out the small children that they wanted to take their "gingerbread cottage" to live. Sick humor us U.P.er's have, eh!

Pamida has a lot of the same items as Shopko, (for those of you in Wisconsin,) or the old K-Marts. However, tends to be "cheap" items for bargain shoppers. They have a pharmacy, electronic, food, crafts, household, garden or seasonal, clothing sections, etc. Nothing to worry about if you carry quality. Their silks look plastic and fake.
