I don't think that is true, unless you pay them or get a "special favor". In the beginning they listed non eflorist members but that quickly faded.

So now they will have your name there but no link or phone number.

Darn near the same thing that the new deceptive site discovered today is/was doing - your name with their link.

findaflorist.com florist links

I just found 2 different sites that had a full listing with a link on Teleflora's findaflorist using a non Teleflora (independent) website. Anybody know the skinny on this?

Teleflora's offical response is that only a Teleflora website can be linked even after I asked them about Bachman's own website is linked. Their response is that they must have made Bachman's a custom website. Yea, right. I did have to throw it in their face that they actually have a findaflorist.com flink to a florist's FTD site. They wanted to know who, but I would not tell them. Clay

Yep, plenty of shennanigans with some of those listings. I also see redirects from former member (or former-hosted) sites to some of the top senders in neighboring communities.

I too know of non-hosted sites that are in the directory. Was told by one owner that he threatened to send his shop's orders FDS if they didn't get a direct link. Well, they're listed now so.....

Seems these rules are evolving ad hoc...

Here's how it works, if you are a top member that is, you get the perks, you get the special deals, and you get the rules bent or broken, but you keep your mouth shut about it.

If you want the rules broken for your own benefit you don't tell the whole world about it.

That's actually the way it should be. If Bachman's, as an example, sends 60,000 orders a year through TF they deserve special treatment, even if it is as small as providing a link to their own site. But TF should not lie about it to the rest of it's members. Why not simply say they are a very large important account that required some perks to keep them happy.

The problem is the vast majority of florists look to the wire services for leadership. The wire services provide industry magazines, give seminars and hold conventions telling the florist how their business should be run. But it is my belief that the business models and business advice that they provide are designed to mislead florists, not into doing what's best for themselves, but into doing what's best for the wire service.

If the wire services want to be in a position of leadership, they have a moral obligation to not abuse their power of influence, and conversely, if the florists want to follow, they better darn well be sure they are following a leader with integrity.

Randy, while I concur with much of what you said, the fact still remains that the current "system" is broken. Just because Bachmans has 60K in orders does NOT mean they should get "special" treatment over someone that sends 100% thru a particular service. Yes, that is how it's set up, thats how it was for me, but d*mn it, it no longer works outside the Top 100.

I completely agree with you about the misleading of florists, regarding business practices.

Your point about the lie's to has merit, but here I think they have both told so many they can;t keep their stories straight.

And finally, as to leadership, I no longer think the wire services are in a position to lead. They are part of the cancer that is rotting the core of this industry, and in fact their "special deals" have caused the tumor to grow faster than it would have on its own. They have already thrown their morals out, they are power hungry, greedy, and dis-honest for the most part.

This may all sound odd, coming from someone that used to get those same "perks" you are talking about, but my morals, and my integrety no longer allow me to look the other way, when unknowing, unsuspecting Real Florists get F U C *ed because they trusted a company that they believed in, and that company laughed all the way to the bank. Thats the very reason I resigned.

Funny thing is, the house of cards is about to come down, and Green and Group, along with the Resnicks will be lucky if there is a florist left that will take even a 100% order from them...

One of my favorite songs on the radio... "Oh it's a great day, to whoop somebodies *S*"... I love it when a plan comes together....

You know.....

ONE of the "Big 2" has seemed to soften it's stand when dealing with REAL FLORISTS, and has "hardened" it's practises when it comes to system abusers!
For another thread.....
