We're trying to load the FTD directory on a PC but it says we have to have Norton anti-virus. We don't have Norton and I don't want it.

We only use Mercury Direct for the directory. Anybody have a way to work around this issue. I am trying to avoid wading through the FTD bureauracy to get this done.

what anti virus do you use Ted??

hmm, years ago (3 maybe) I had to load the directory by cd, and it would request Nortons. There is a way to bypass it but for the life of me I can't remember. I also didn't use Nortons .... I don't remember being on the phone a long time waiting for the bypass method with tech services..... sorry, :dunce

I do remember that there is a way around it - and I remember firing off a few strongly worded emails a few years ago when FTD implemented this policy.

Their excuse was that they were being asked to troubleshoot infected florist PCs even though the PC wasn't from FTD. I never got an answer as to whether FTD was getting residuals from Norton.

There is a way around this.

I use AVG which is superior to Norton, free, and isn't a giant resource hog. I guess we should just be happy they didn't choose Kaspersky ;)
