Yea, it's amazing...

what you can buy with a 100 mil, huh.

No, not sad over here in Philly. No sour grapes. Our chances were 50/50 at best. I am proud of my Phills - going 6 games up against the Yank pitching staff was pretty good.

We got to CC... but our bats went too silent for a few too many innings. Didn't get the run support in the earlier games.

Last night, I could feel the loss coming in the first inning. Pedro never seemed to get in a grove, no rhythm. Plus Ryan going 12 strike outs didn't help... the only consolation was his 2 run homer. Ending that way is WAY better than ending in a slump and having it fester throughout the off season.

Anyway, yup - nuff said. George wanted to buy a world series this year, and he did. Let's see who is there on that team next year. I'd be willing to be there will be more of the same players on the Phillies than the Yanks....

So why the complaining about dollars spent ? Philly could have and also paid the tax to do so. The Tax dollars the yankees spend help "ALL OF BASEBALL" ...With that said you still have to play the game, it was a GREAT SERIES.. Not just because we won but look at the caliber of talent on BOTH TEAMS. I don't care how much George spent Player for Player leading to series it was a dead heat. Yea Herb you are right some faces will change, we got 4 guys over here been there for 15 years. Have 8 players with at least 15 years in majors. So you can say the old men beat the young studs. Damon and Posada probly gone... The Sandman probly retire, Jeter-A-Rod another 2-3. The new core Tex,Milkey,Garner,Cano,CC,Burnet thats a nice core to build around we will see. Don't hang your head Phillies get some pitching to go with Lee and Hamels they will contend again

just plain luck...there ain't no "talent" on the Yanks team..just "fear" of losing their big paychecks......Phillies shuda won, hands down....

And you're "cryin" about 9 years??

Hey, I'm a Red Sox fan(atic) but I have to say, I just saw a cool story about Joe Girardi in my local CT newspaper this morning. A young woman in the next town over from me was driving home from NY from work late evening, hours after the Yankees won the series. She got in an accident and was trapped in her car. Along came Joe Girardi and his family coming home from the game, and he rescued her, made sure she was OK, and then quietly left her with the cops. After he was gone, the cops said to her, "Do you know who just rescued you?" The girl was a Yankees fan, and just flipped!" What a story for her to tell the grandkids someday!

The Yankess do spend a lot of money but other teams could spend too and they chose not to reinvest in the product they are putting on the field. The Yanks and Sox and several other teams pay luxery taxes to small market teams but many of the small market teams put that money in their pockets vs back into the team which is what that tax was ment to do.

The core 4 players from there late 90s championship teams all came from their minor leagues and none of those championships could have been won with out them. And those same core 4 players were on the field 14 years later and the Yanks still could not have won with out them. How may teams in any sport could say that today?

That is absolutely correct !!!

Phillies are truly a team of honorable athletes that kids can look up to. Not like the arrogant one handed snot blowin yanks!

It's great that our kids in the Philadelphia area have role models that a parent can be proud that their children idolize.

I'd hate for the Phils to have a player like A Rod (along with his flavor of the month, Kate) who feel it's necessary to publicize their sex life or hire someone to paint him as a centaur to hang in his home.

The Yankees are a team of athletes all trying to one up each other. It's all about what each of them can do INDIVIDUALLY to hopefully end up winning a game.

The Phillies are a true TEAM of brothers who work together to to win games and they have fun while they are doing it. Anyone that watches just one game can see that the Phillies have something that most teams are lacking; they have heart, respect and admiration for EACH OTHER and their coaching team.

Love those PHILS!

yah, maybe.
But at least our fans aren't trading sex for tickets. Or if we are, we're smart enough to use a pseudonym ;)

Hal - I disagree - how many other major league teams can handle a $200 mil payroll. Let alone, a $100 mil p/r to start, then DOUBLE it one year! Not many - maybe 3, 4????

Ahh, it WAS a great series. Would have LOVED a Game 7 - all the marbles - a ONE game series! THAT would have been a game for the ages...
