Guess it was just a matter of time....

Ava's Flowers (FTD dOG out of New Jersey) has been spamming social media for rankings for a couple years... so they've finally hit FB.

Anaheim Florist Avas Flowers claiming to work at Anaheim Florist.

Ugh! Double Ugh!

I reported the profile as fake - and 'Anaheim Florist' as spam.

Check out your own cities and I'll bet you'll find an Avas there, too. A FB 'People' query shows IDs under

and that's just the first results page.

Ted, can you report them to FTD? (They don't really care about my opinion but they'll pay attention to you.) And pass this on to others who might want to report it, too.

Wanna bet Ava's gets G link pops for V Day from this?

BTW, this is one of the most important reasons we need FlowerChat - to communicate about the WS-funded jerks who want to pretend they're in our towns.

Yup, you are absolutely right...East Boston, not really there I can tell you that...love how they say they wwent to east boston high in 2002...winners, real winners...but will they really be able to connect with the consumers and be "social" without looking fakey fake? I don't think so, but something to watch..
 
Thanks for this. A friend/florist on my facebook called me the other day to tell me that I had some of those on my "friends list". If I don't know them them from shows, bootcamps or here, I'm not excepting them. This post encouraged me to "police" my facebook page a little closer................

Some of those Ava listings have 400+ friends - which helps make them look legit right off the bat. They each claim to have attended a local high school and college - which grants them access to the FB list of all students from their graduation years- to invite more friends.

They're all offering $5 off to friends and that may well be enough to gain orders, too.

If a FB user searches for a florist in any of those towns, Ava's will show up since they keyword stuffed their user names. With all the signals of 'legit' - local name, attended local high school and college, and a bunch of friends - they could fool a lot of folks.

Even worse is that Google may well use the pages as citations of legitimacy in those communities.

Please, please take a few minutes and mark those 'people' as fake.

BTW - businesses are not supposed to use 'People' pages - they are required to create 'Pages' - 'Pages' cannot 'friend' People and cannot mine data like 'People' can.

The only one I found for our area on Facebook is Minneapolis, so I reported that one. They also have website pages for every town in the twin cities.
