i'm having a "chat" with someone who is advicing this...

To make $ with orders from these 3, each designer uses the following formula: With Bloomnet, take 55% of the incoming Total, subtract all the delivery and that is the true retail available to make the design. If you can't make it with that $, reject, or ask for more $. With FTD, and Teleflora, we get 60%. It is true that you have to be careful and reject promptly because of their penalties for late rejection.

Am I reading that wrong?? he is suggesting you only fill to 55% of the sent value?

I am trying to get him to answer the question straight on but he seems to be avoiding telling me if he would value an order at 150 or 88.00 for an order for 160.

Yes, I saw that, and yes, as I read it that's what he's saying... some shops do "clip" orders, they often feel it's their right to do so, since that's what they are actually getting paid... it's wrong!

But, there's no arguing with idiots... would not waste my time... my guess is he won't answer...

ok so he is admitting on a public page that he is cheating his customers???

And we wonder why people don't trust florists to do a good job for them!

Does he not worry Bloomnet or Teleflora might see his posts??

You need boxing gloves on that board sometimes......

There are a few who have said the same thing. Shannon absolutely NAILED one of the people on it and became enemy number one. Some people are going to bury themselves. Don't be one of them.

If you are going to accept an order from ANY other entity regardless of who they are, then you'd better fill it dollar for dollar. People who skim more than has already been skimmed drive me bonkers, they can't see the way they are harming the industry and instead turn around and point at somebody else for the problems.

Drives me bonkers.

The boards on FB are nothing like here..They are chock full of all the worst florists, bad advice, heresay, rumors and just plain old unadulterated idiocy and if you are on at night it gets worse when they start drinking their drinks..they get tongue lashing nasty...just soem really bad attitudes..it is sad because you just know tehy treat their customers just as bad..I have a thick skin but I am starting to wonder if I can stand much more..the things I hear make me really want to quit the industry altogether because it amkes me think we are far too gone...idiots abound!

I'm not sure how you do that. I know you can unfriend someone, but not sure about a group. Not everyone one there is bad. I've gotten some really useful info from the more reliable florist on there.

go to the group and somewhere on the page should be a leave group button, look on the RIGHT column..

THIS is exactly what has made me so sick for so long.

To leave a group, click on "settings" there will be a button there...

Too many "florist" places... I too have grown weary of the two, Save and Help Save....

Funny thing, I've been here since the first minutes FC was born, 9 years ago Halloween Night and I still love our forums and the people who call this place "home". And I'm thankful for each one of you.

Besides this place, I'd recommend the Florists for Change sites/pages but not much more. Also Florist Exchange... Abner and crew have some good rid bits too...

Night folks...

I a SOOOOOO weary of futile flame wars on florists message boards. I'd rather hear crickets chirping (i.e. less posts) than waste my time with trolls looking for attention or bored florists baiting each other with stupid innuendo. Folks, we have businesses to run, people to see and family to enjoy. Don't waste one minute on stuff that takes your eyes off the REAL prizes of life.

And don't EVER let someone you only met on a message board define who you are or what you really are in life. Engaging only feeds their egos and gives them power. *Ignore* is the ultimate power on the web. :)

I'm so grateful for the lessons I've learned here on FC. Mainly- Don't fight back with mean people. I tried to be reasonable- but I can only be called a b*tch or stupid (which I'm so totally not) so many times. So I stopped trying to defend myself and just clicked the pretend "ignore" button in my mind.

I like to talk about business stuff- but really I just wanna talk about design. There lots of people who ask me design questions privately just because they are afraid of asking publicly and being told they are dumb or called stupid... I mention flowerchat ever chance I get in the hopes they will come here- but they don't. And I don't know it all nor do I think I do- but what I do know I'll share!

I've always been the type of designer that wanted to be better than I was. I imagine I always will be..I always asked questions to anyone I could and these forums are such a great way to ask questions and become better designers. But, like I said, when people are afraid to ask for fear of being called stupid or dumb they don't ask. Crazy.

FTR- the pics I post in the hopes that people will say "Oooo that's cool- how did you do that?" or "what is that?" or "What's the mechanics behind that" etc...Then they get and answer and we all learn something. Which will encourage more pic posts from others and more discussion- etc... you get what I mean.

I did learn about picassa on that forum- so that's good!

Anyway- who knew that civil debates with Bloomzie (and they were pretty civil compared to.....) would turn out to be helpful and keep me level headed and not engaging in more fights.
