We have been calling shops before we send any wire outs for any teleflora keepsake christmas "specials". We have been having a hard time finding shops that are carrying this years specials, no surprise there, we are one of them.

So we have a customer who wants to send either the TK house or the Lennex bowl to a small town in OK designed with carns instead of the roses. My dad (the owner) calls the shop to inquire. She doesn't have the TK house but thinks she can get it from another shop. My dad tells her of the second choice of the bowl arrangement. She says she doesn't have it but she does have the red bowl from last year and can do that design. So she is going to try to get the TK house and call us back.

2 days later my dad calls the shop back as he has not heard from her and our customer came into the shop to check on the order. She says she can not find the house but does have the red bowl from last year. My dad, with the other shop on the phone, looks up the pic of this arrangement. He describes it to her to be sure he has the correct pic. She says yup, I can do that one with carns. Ok, my dad says, let me show this to my customer and see if this is ok with her. The customer oks it happy there is a candle in it.

Back on the phone my dad once again confirms with the florist that this can be done with carns and a candle as the pic shows and gets a price.

All is good, customer is happy and he sends the order over the dove.

The next day (delivery day) at 2:30pm we get an inquiry from the other shop that says the price that was quoted did not include the candle.

At this point my dad explains all this to me. I call the other shop asking about the inquiry. She immeditaly begins to yell at me tells me that it is that guys fault (my dad, the owner) not hers she never told him it would have a candle in it. She says she needs another 4.95 for the candle.

I get off the phone with her and spend the next half an hour trying to find another shop to deliver this arrangement, with no luck. None of the teleflora shops in the surrounding towns deliver to that address and none of the shops in this town are teleflora.

So we decide because it is so late in the day of delivery we send her her 4.95 and do not charge our customer.

My next phone call was to HQ with a complaint on the shop.

We had worked back and forth with this shop for 3 or 4 days getting this arranged and the DAY of delivery at 2:30pm she tells us she needs more money for a candle!

Sorry for the rant, needed to blow off some steam.
 
The job of sending out orders becomes harder and harder each holiday. I NEVER sell TF products in my shop or for wire outs. It may be easier for me in this area since it has never been a keepsake kind of town. My customers are always advised to choose designers choice, holiday arrangement for the best value and service and they 99% of the time go for that and are pleased with the results.I sell the fact that each florist is unique and they will be more creative with an open order.
 
Expensive candle for $4.95

Again it comes down to stupid owners not taking responsibility for their work and staff. Quality assurance my as*!

if a customer wants to send a particular holiday container out of our area, they get 3 phone numbers to call 3 different shops in the area...we just stay out of it!!..and our customers very much appreciate it!!
 
I am glad to say that every holiday I send to a shop in Edmond OK and Designs by Tammy Your Florist has done a great job for my customers mom!! She has always far exceeded their expectations and I have always thank her and let her know she has made my customer happy and the receipient.
But on the other hand, I have run into problems and you just want to choke the florist on the other end! Because it upsets your customer and we don't like upset customers here.
 
Our customers are also advised that they should order with an open order concept. We tell them that if they are looking for a centerpiece, vase, basket, sleigh, etc... we can relay that.

Most of them do go with the open order but there are those that "want to see what it will look like" or "want the teleflora special for the holiday"
In this case we try to call the shops on the other end while the customer is still here. I don't trust the "codified" tab in the dove, its been wrong too many times.
 
What kinda dang candle was it? Made outta gold? $4.95 - Dang.. that shop needs to hit the dollar stores after Christmas sales where you can get candles for TEN cents each...
 
Regardless of whether you send out orders for the codified containers or not, when you call and speak with someone, you should get what was ordered!

I've had two calls for that awful gold ornament, and I'm not even in TF anymore!!!

hehe!!

That candle thing is silly, gosh I'll throw candles in a centerpiece for nothin.

Candles are one area we do not skimp on... we only use high quality, dripless, smokeless candles..

Not worth having a "melt down" or fire from a cheap candle. And people WILL pay for high quality candles...our 15" tapers retail for $3.25 I think... they come from France...

And the good old Patrician 15" that all the wholesalers carry are only $0.60 each...

But seriously folks, the holidays are when our our incompetent brethren truly shine, this is about the third thread I have read on this board just today regarding problem fulfillers.

Hard to make excuses for them now.....

Ya know I could ;) but I digress, trying to start my New Years resolution early... not that I'll stick with it long.

Every flower shop I visited in Paris sold tapers. Had them stacked vertically usually behind the check out. Beautiful displayed like that.
 
I am in Boyd, TX - That's where Billy Bob, bubba, Joe Bob, Earl and Mama Bob live... There might be a few folks that I could sell a Franciscan dripless, smokeless candle to... but if I tried with some of these people out here... It could possibly turn into a bad joke! They would tell me that they like their candles to smoke... ? :O)

And.. for those that think I am not serious - come on down to Boyd America! (thats what the locals call it)

..and to add.. Tammie Bob to that list - because I am not going to pay that for a taper candle either... maybe 3 bucks.. but not 5!

Update:

Our customer called today to say the arrangement has not been delivered. I was afraid of that.

Called the other shop, she tells us she already canceled the order, she can not and will not do it as this town is 63 miles away from her.
It's THURSDAY we called her about this order on SATURDAY that is 5 days ago!! Never said anything about the distance, never canceled this order either.

I call HQ, they call her, she says to them, I am not discussing this with you, and she hung up on them

HQ refused the order from their end, and called a shop in the town of the recipient even though there are no teleflora shops there, they placed an order for the recipient for us at no charge to either us or our customer.

They asked lots of questions about this other shop. I am not holding my breath for anything to be done about them, but it is nice to be heard and for the person on the other end at HQ to care about how my customer is treated.

Our customer, thank goodness, is not upset with us, is understanding, and is happy of how it was handled.
