Yesterday somone in our shop(new staff) took a shop to shop phone order from another teleflora shop. As she was missing some information she called them back to find out their Teleflora # and shop name and it took her a long time to get the info. When I finally got invloved I phoned them to discover it was 1-800 flowers( oh goodie) and the teleflora # they gave me did not exist with teleflora( I checked) Has any one else had this happen? Teleflora insisted they were not members, which is what I had thought, but 2 separate operators at 1-800 flowers insisted they were. We have never had this happen before as most of our wire orders come over the Dove or Mercury, and those that use the phone we tend to know! Yes, I did refuse the order!

Some shops are signed on as LFC local filling centers for 1-800 scum, and they will try and send these through as shop to shop orders. Have had it tried here , you have to be very vigilant.

This is very interesting as last week or (the week before) I recieved an order from 1-800 thru teleflora as well I decided against my better judgement to accept the order but the girl who was sending the order wanted it delivered the same day to a business. When I told her it was past our delivery time for business delivery she said that it would be ok to send it the next day . So I phoned the recipient to find out their hours and to let them know something would be coming the next day. Then about a 1/2 hour later the Recipient called back to say she had spoken to the person who had sent the order ( I am unsure as to how she knew who had sent it as I had not told her) and that they insisted she have it today. I called 1-800 back to find out what to do. I spoke to a different person who said I must deliver it out today even tho the person who gave me the order said it was ok for the next day. So the next call I made was to teleflora headquarters. I was surprised when teleflora told me to cancel the order as I would not get paid for it anyway! I never thought to ask why I wouldnt get paid so now this clears it up. Interesting.

From what it's worth...

800 orders will ALWAYS go thru Bloomlink first, to the "preferred partners." Then, to a "partner" who is with TEL, then a "partner" who is on Mercury. If no "partner" is listed as covering that town, it goes out to the TEL general population, then, as a LAST resort, thru FTD membership.

And yes, if you join Bloomlink, you are a "partner", cannot ask for price changes, and or delivery charges UNLESS you are listed as a "rural" shop. If you get the order via Bird or Merc, you can usually get $5 - $7 more no problem. $10 only if the order has been x-mitted before...

This is all speculation...just from experience with visiting other shops and talking with the owners...

I think it depends on where you are located. Possibly a call center or something. Out here in Northern Ca, nearly all of the 1880.com orders came through FTD. Once I dropped FTD, 1800 nearly dissapeared for us. In fact, the year before I dropped FTD, I went back and did an analysis, 76% of all the orders that came over the Merc were 1800.com. Just for trivia sake, 20% were from FTD.com and 4% were from FTD florists. Just one of the reasons that I dropped FTD.

Maybe I missed something....if you don't get paid for an order through WS if it is from 1800, then they are getting away with fraud.

If you are a partner you most certainly can ask for price changes and/or delivery charges even if you aren't a "rural" shop. I have seen it done many times. Of course, you have to send the ASK and then wait on their response...way too much time spent. Bloomlink is not worth it!

I agree with Bloomlink not being worth it...but, disagree with the price change issue...I have read a "contract"...a one-sided contract at that!

At any rate, you REALLY have to watch the costs. Plain and simple, if you cannot fill the order for what they give you, then either ask for the price change or reject it...don't fill it - as TOO many florists out there do.
