This has nothing to do with the flower industry, but I put it out there to show folks how important online reputation management can be. It's obvious from reading the comments on the article that people frustrations with life in today's economy are surfacing in ways and places they really do not apply.
You can see how the tone of the comments changed once I replied to the public comments regarding some work I am involved in in an organization I really believe in. It's a good (to me) example of how you can turn the tide when things do not go the way you plan, or when you come under attack, often by people without the facts, or those just wanting to stir the pot for their own satisfaction.
You can read the article for the particulars, then the comments (there are a lot of them) to understand what it is we are trying to do. You can see how things changed a bit once I commented. What you can not see is how many people have come forward to offer assistance to the shelter, even several of the nay sayers in the proposed neighborhood have come to the facility to offer a helping hand not only at the shelter, but with our ongoing work to move and expand the facility.
All comments with the name "Mark" are mine. The article is HERE.
I would be especially interested in hearing Nicole and Cathy's thoughts on how I did.
