Online Trust How Do We Do It?

So today I called this company that I ordered some phone replacements from. Its been a month and no phone calls, no email, nothing.

Sandra: Hello Eric Shaw. How may I help you?
Eric Shaw: I was just trying to check on the status of my order
Sandra: order number please
Eric Shaw: xxxxx
Sandra: just a moment
Sandra: A full refund has been issued to your credit card last week because we did not get our inventory from our warehouse.
Sandra: if it does not show in your bank account? you must have to dispute the charged with your bank.
Eric Shaw: What?
Eric Shaw: When I give a refund to a customer it shows up 2 or 3 days after the refund is issued.
Eric Shaw: When was the transaction date on the refund?
Sandra: we did all our refunds last week and we do not have access to the system to see the date of the refund,
Eric Shaw: So you would rather pay the chargeback to your merchant service then try to refund the money?
Sandra: We did not get our inventory so the right thing to do was to refund the $ to our customers. Below is the information you need to dispute the transaction with your Bank:
Purchased date: 7/31/2010
Total amount: $41.55
Sandra: sorry for any inconvenience
Eric Shaw: I have the information but why would you rather me dispute it then issue the refund
Sandra: we did all the refunds last week.
Eric Shaw: Thats not really an answer to what I am asking
Eric Shaw: So you are okay with paying for the chargeback?
Eric Shaw: Because there is no refund on the account as of today?
Sandra: we have done our part refunding the money.
Eric Shaw: Okay then. Just letting you know that there is no refund. And the fact that you can't provide of date of the refund. None of my phone calls have been returned, no emails have been returned. I'm at a loss as to what is going on. I have no problem waiting until the inventory comes in but you prefer me to dispute the charges in which you would be hit with a chargeback fee from merchant services in very suspicious.
Sandra: I understand your concern.
Sandra: I provided you with the answers in case you do not see the refund at your bank.
Eric Shaw: So there is no chance in the products coming in?
Sandra: Please dispute the transaction with your bank.
Sandra: every day we have updates
Sandra: if you need the same items you order before i can keep u updated
Sandra: let me know
Eric Shaw: Of course I do. That’s why I don't understand why you would want me to dispute the charges? I will go ahead and dispute the charges and if you can let me know when these items come in that would be great. I just don't understand how you can do business like this? I am probably the easiest person to work with but it sounds like you would rather not. Thanks for helping today.

So you wonder why customers are trying to figure out who do we trust to plac ea n order online. I say this. Forget about working on your SEO for your website.

Concentrate on making your website user friendly. Plenty of information and most importanly make easy ways to contact you such as contact forms and working phone numbers.

Make your website look like it can be trusted!!
 
You can tell by his flustered typing...Eric, I feel for you...this month I have had a epic fail tech month..so many websites, tech support groups and computer systems failed that I wonder if all this technology is really getting us ahead or making us more stupid...People just don't even know how to conduct business if these systems fail for some reason...Rite aid in my area has to close down whne the satelite that keeps their system up goes down, they can't process anything, but cash, no cc no checks no customer coupon cards....
