This years Orange County Fair that takes place at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, CA is down 65% in sales compared to last year at this time.

Can you imagine!!!

A friend of ours just got let go today and was told because of the decline in revenue that they could not keep her on. The Fair is scheduled to continue until August 9th.

So they have a long way to go still.

considering for the past two days the talk on the nightly news has been the CA lack of money situation..... don't you think most people are listening too much to the money woes of the state and keeping close to home?

Well, I'm headed to the OC Fair next week and am dying to see Weird Al's Brain. :>

The economy here stinks. 5th highest job loss in the US. House prices down something like 25% from 2007. Commercial real estate is in bad shape. Sales Tax was increased to almost 9% here and over 10% in LA County. We were informed our Workman's Comp Insurance would increase 25% and we've had no losses - for years. Everyone's trying to be positive, but the news just keeps getting worse and costs just keep going up.

Eric, that's a staggering number for the fair - and really sad news.

I'm doing my best to lower the revenue losses here in Maine...
I wish my CA friends the same!
worst part is it could all change in weeks (for the better or for the worse)

Well, being one that does not watch TV myself, I'm not sure it's the "news" that's driving this issue. I'm sure that to some extent it is, but facts are facts.

Many of us know someone that has lost their job(s), their home, car(s) and retirement. You find out a lot by just talking to people and listening with an open heart.

Sadly we have not, nor will we see the bottom for some time to come. Any hint that things are getting better is bogus (unless your in the top 5%) and we should assume they will get worse, because they are and will.

Take what you want from my comments, but until greed is eradicated from the business world, and humanity is returned nothing will change for the better.

Feels pretty real here. Pa has not passed a budget and state employees are not getting paid. My husband is a corrections officer for the state. Seems like a big deal at the moment, but this too shall pass, I'm sure.
