Hi everyone,

I have a question about order gatherers, how can you pinpoint when you are receiving an order from one? we received an order today from sendflowers.com. Just the name sounded wrong to us so we rejected it because when we checked out the site, it came up with only a PO box listed. someone from the "shop" called us, the caller ID said stanley's florist. the person said they are a florist, been in business over a 100 years. got off the phone, tried to find a florist named stanleys in Michigan, and could not. thought maybe someone could help us out and tell us exactly what we can look for since we are so new at this.

thanks

If it came FTD, any code number beginning with a 90 or 91 should be suspect, also any code number that has a "Z" as the suffix IS suspect...

FTD now sends all of FST, Flowers Sent Today and America Blooms via domestic retrans, cloaked so you can not tell where it came from, unless you read the raw order data. To FTD's credit if you ask them, they will tell you where to order originated...

thanks for the info on FTD Boss, but what if it is a Teleflora? Anything to look out for there?
Personally I'd be suspicious of any order that comes in with a NAME.COM attached to it... that tells me they do NOT have a B&M shop in the first place...

I would be suspect of any order from TC.coN as well, and anything you might consider a "company order". One biggy for TF is their member E-floristinc.com whom is none other than the infamous UrbanFlorist.com reincarnated with Telefloras help...

Too bad that instead of getting rid of a couple bad order gatherers TF decided to get rid of a few good employees instead...

But then some folks say I am biased so you make up your own mind ;)

I am TF. We called them and asked them not to ever call us with any orders that do not originate from a brick and motar flower shop. We explained to them why we were not interested in filling for headquarters and any one else who could not fill for us. Since that call we do not ever get calls from them trying to get us to fill any of those orders. It worked for us, good luck!

I belive Sendflowers.com is the internet site for Stanley's Florist in Dunellen, NJ. They are a real florist, with several stores. It's becoming an age old debate, if a florist is an OG if they have an actual shop. Stanley's is a real shop, but the OG thing ......... you have to decide for yourself I guess.

We are TF only, with Dove. We do a directory look up, using the shop code. If it comes up all zero's for minimums, or says sending only, we bounce the order. It's not foolproof, but it helps. If the name sounds funny, but they do show actual delivery minimums, we do a little digging online. I don't know if the look up would work for FTD, but we did notice the "Z" suffix after a while.

good luck,
tracy

For me an order gatherer is someone who advertise in my area and says they are in my area and that they deliver in my area when they are not.
Also an order gathere is a call center where they gather orders.
Also an order gatherer is a florist who skims off the top before they send me the order.
Also an order gatherer is a florist who has many web sites and offers flowers at different price range to fool the consumers.
