We had the best laugh day... From You Flowers called (at 3:25 pm) wanting 75 standard calla lilies for a wedding on Friday.... My designer answered, as I was out and she basically asked them if they were kidding... but they said were willing to pay for them, not sure how much, never got there.lollollollollollol
I called them back and told them no guarantees on such short notice, as all wholesale houses were closed for the day and I can't get a hold of them till tomorrow and that they best tell their customer to get off their a... and to Go find them.
OOPS, she hung up on me...:rofl:

UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I just dont' feel like jumping thru this hoop:GP for Pro-Flowers--FYF... as I have to drive to Seattle for pick up if I find them, no time... Sorry order early....and I have 5 other weddings this weekend that require my priority.

Goes to show you can't leave your wedding to a online service....

The flowers are actually still blooming in the box and have been timed for maximum beauty on a bride’s wedding day

I like this line, "Still Blooming in the box" , unless they never arrive or cook or freeze. Does Fedx require a signature for these or is it "leave on the porch procedure"?

I can get my flowers cheaper on line

I am so sick of hearing I can order my flowers cheaper on-line or have a relative pick up in a warehouse, (Costco, Sams, etc.) my flowers... I just need someone to arrange them. Maybe I'll just have my sister's boyfriend's aunt by the third marriage do them... she likes to play with flowers.

My response, "Great idea. I wish you well." I'm not going to spend my time figuring out what she needs and then have her order from an OG, box store, or wholesale store.... They are shocked that I won't help them without a fee for consultation.

UGH!

and the whole situation is the fact that they don't realize that the fee for arrangeing them and sitting with them and ordering them and caring for the flowers is why they are paying more...

I say let them get the flowers through costco and give them an ala cart pricing for consult, arranging, delivering, working up a work order for dry and fresh goods, have them pay for every stinking thing and they will see how it adds up...

the problem is that we as an industry keep all these prices as a secret and budle it all in so they don't have any clue what they are paying for....not saying we are wrong, this happened because of years of people thinking we shouldn't get paid for labor and stuff, but now things are different, we may have to have an ala cart menu for people who want our expertise, maybe then they will see how we are not a rip off..

Have any of you ever seen how much people spend to have a tent wedding thinking they would save on a hall, after renting the seats and tables and dishes and linenes, it ends up being the same, and then you have the searing heat pr driving rain and it was all for nothing, not to mention your time doing all that extra work...

From what I can see, we could do the same thing for the same or perhaps less money without the shipping costs!

$320 for a bride's bouquet, 2 bridesmaids, 1 bout, and 3 corsages? I can do that!

Well it is florist fault this is happening, and I have ordered the steph one, just to see the qulaity of the thing, and it was very nice, and fresh, actually, I do know a shop who orders the steph one from them when they sell it, because it is nicer & more affordable than them makeing it themselves... This is nothing new, on the ordereing of them from these sites...as florist we don't have to say if you have a rose in your cooler for 5.00 each, do you really have to charge 15.00 for the darn thing to go in a handtied, Say a dz is that of 52.50 in a vase, in your store, do you have to charge 100.00 for it on a wedding, when that word is mentioned, for the same if I wanted it to go to my friend down the street???

Queen, that is a good point. I mark my flowers at 3.25 X. and my labor at 35%. and my goods at 2 X to 2.25 depending what it is.

The last bouquet I priced for a brides was $239.00, and the bridesmaids were $80.00, neither were very big, but she want dahlias, cymbidiums, gloriousa, mini callas,......texture and awsome... expensive flowers.

That's what I thought when I looked at the flowers and style of things..... I told my husband that I can do that for that price....

But when they come through the door with grandious ideas with a $500.00 budget.... I have 3 - 5 brides maids, ect and you are at 500 before you begin the flowers they want for decor.

This site was very I opening, as my prices are not so bad after all.

why do you spend so much of your time telling them what to do and what not to do? If you're really that busy with other weddings, dont you think that they deserve all of your time???

It so happens we had one of these customers, she ordered her personal flowers, a church arr. and silk alter boq as rental from us, not big, but not bad either. We got a call on Wed, they needed 70 stems of delph, turns out the box of Costco stems arrived smashed and they needed to find more. We got them for them, sorta, did the best we could.
