Thank you Michelle McMichael for posting your new wedding website back in January, it inspired me to actually complete what I had been working on for quite a while.

www.mcadamsweddingflorist.com

A little different than most florist's wedding website, I decided to keep a working shopping cart on the WS wedding products, because.....believe it or not, we get orders for "last minute" wedding bouquets, bouts, coursages, etc..

Anyway, I would be interested in some feedback.....the good AND the bad. Thanks. Clay

Beautiful job. After looking at your prices I have finally gotten in gear myself and just raised all my corsage and bout prices. I knew I needed to do it, just never took the time. Thanks for giving me the kick in the pants that I needed!!!

While doing this website, it forced me to look at the FTD/TEF SRP they put on the corsages and bouts.....some of the prices would just cover my flowers/materials.

Looks great - I espeically like your color choices, for your logo, and background.
The only "suggestion" I'd make (and I make it hesitantly, because I'm guilty of the same) is that you need some of your personal work on there - I suppose just on the blog would be enough, but brides like to see your hand made stuff.

overall, it looks terrific!

I am very guilty

Yes, I am VERY guilty of that. The Gallery feature was really meant for personal work, but since I do not have any images....I posted some JHC images in the mean time. Once I get some of my own images, the JHC images will be priced and posted in our shopping cart section and the older WS images taken off.

I am also VERY guilty of not marketing to the wedding demographics at all. Up until now, I have been complacent with our continual stream of funeral work....but the In Lieu Of and cremations have finally started to work itself down this way south....and the funeral flower work has declined for the first time ever.

We plan on getting into the wedding show booth game, along with the new wedding ad in our paper's new wedding magazine, VOW (ad in the Press section of the website). I have started to make contact with the other wedding vendors to do some needed networking.

Anything else, wedding marketing wise, that I might be missing?

In a year from now, it will be real easy to see this website has helped me capture some new work.

Huge, huge, huge. By far, the best time invested will be getting to know other successful wedding vendors - think up the food chain. Caterers, Bridal shops, Ceremony and Reception Venues, Photogs, Video, Hair Salons, Invitations (especially hand callighraphed)........

good luck Clay! It's a whole new floral world for you.
:)

Thanks for the "huge" tip! I will let you know in a year how I am doing.

Very nice! I like the shopping cart capability. I agree that pictures of your own work would be nice, but honestly I think WE all just get tired of seeing the same photos... not necessarily the general public.

I like the fact that your items are priced and show upgrade prices as well.

Our website has brought us some new brides, I think. Most that we talk with have seen the website already. We have had a few who had no idea we were in this little cowtown, called from the "city" and booked with us anyway. So I guess that in itself makes it worthwhile! Time will tell!

Good luck with your new venture. I know it was a lot of work, and it shows!

Thanks for the compliment....you were the one that inspired me to get something done/finished on mine.

I just now noticed you have a really nice blog on you wedding website....I really like your blog entry/pictures on corsages - http://blog.centraloregonweddingflowers.com/ .

Like I metioned to Tracy, let's see in a year exactly what it has brought to the table!

weddings

Clay - I know around here there are a lot of regional bridal magazines and things of that nature. There is a wedding magazine in the Tyler/Longview area that has ads in it and also articles. Most of the ads are put in by a florist, photographer, or wedding venue and feature a specific wedding. One of our weddings was put in there by the photographer, but it showcased our flowers very well. I wish I had known they were planning to do it, I would have offered to split the costs for the ad. Anyway, these are distributed free around East Texas, especially restaurants and such. It seems most brides coming in today have one in their hands! Also, thanks to FC, we now keep BRIDES AND BLOOMS in our showroom to discuss with the girls.

See if you have similar resources down South!
