AT&T's Yellow Pages in Charlotte no longer contain Deceptive OG listings.

I'm curious if this is a ONE CITY thing or if they have adopted this policy nationwide.

It would be interesting AND informative if some of you could check your local AT&T Yellow Pages and let us know. Any books published after, say, August of 2009 would be possible candidates.

Thanks!

Bill

Bill, I got my father's EZ2Read phone book today and the only ad in it was a 1/4 page for FTD. No OG listings even in the line listings.
Interesting!!!!!!
Our "yellow" book comes in January (from Idearc)

No addresses, just toll free numbers. Bloomstoday has a big red circle that says "50% off all products!* telephone or online. The asterisk simply says "call for details". What is most interesting is that, unlike previous years, they are not full page. They are 1/8 page. The biggest is FTD, and that one is 1/4 page. HOWEVER. In my case, being in West Saint Paul, there is no "West Saint Paul Florist" listed with a toll-free number. There still are some listed, like St Paul Minnesota Florist, but it is a local number. No address. I'll have to call it. I believe this is probably because most know that people don't really use the book any more, they just go on line, I know I do.

Our AT&T YPs were delivered today. No addresses on any OG ads.

Full page from Blooms Today with "50% off all Products" claim (Not true, since the 50% discount only applies on orders up to $100 plus the buyer has to pay $15 or so to join one of those 'clubs' like WebLoyalty, and pay another $15 sending fee so the max savings would be $20. With Bloomnet's $10 per order rebate plus whatever fee bounty they get from the loyalty company, my guess is BT comes out at about even dollars on an average sale.)

Half Pages from:
FTD - 'up to 30% off online orders'
American Blooms (Blooms Today) - 'arrangements starting at $29.99
Lauren's Flowers (Blooms Today) - 'family owned and operated'

The Greater Greenville (SC) AT&T book has the same full page ad from Blooms Today which has been described above. Also, there is a half page (less one column) from FTD and Traditions Florist. No addresses for any of them, only toll-free numbers.

Bill, I believe that the absence of such ads in your area is the direct result of your efforts. :yourock:

( It was surely nice talking with you yesterday! Thank you for your time and help.)

Bill, In Asheville, there is a 1/2 page for Bloomstoday (address Haymarket VA)
and FTD, 1/4 page,(address Downers Drove IL) just big enough to read

Out of curiosity, does Superpages.com allow AllAmerican Flowers appear as a "local florist"? They have a number 1 listing and the map does point to an address in a residential area here.... they must be working out of their house here.

Hi Mike. Does bloomstoday have a full address, or just the city?

AFAIK, none of the web directory companies -- including the supposedly "local" dierectories -- differentiate between a "real" local florist and one that "serves" a local area (aka a dOG!)

If they are showing a local address that is not correct, you have every right to complain. (Whether they do anything is another matter!)

Bill

Bill, Bloomstoday has the full address listed. 15405 John Marshall highway Haymarket. VA20169 (in red and large enough to read

FTD - downers Grove,IL - real small

OK,,,same as in Charlotte.

It sounds like they have decided to comply with the law in NC and the H*** with ethical standards everywhere else.

I wonder if this decision might come back to haunt them at some later time?

The SHADOW knows! Heh Heh Heh Heh Heh Hehnnnnn
