Okay I know there are people out in FC land that do not belong to a ws and use their cc's to place orders with other shops. I have a question for you...

Here is my senario, I DO belong to ws and recieve the occasional order from a shop payed for on a cc. Do you send the receiving shop your tax ID # or not? It would seem to me the ordering shop would use their tax # so that tax is only taken once. (at the shop the order was placed at)

Received two today and both cases the other shop asked us to take tax out of their "total"

TIA

Sales Tax

Whomever takes the order from the consumer is responsible to pay the sales tax to their state. They then order from another florist without sales tax included, i.e. resale. I would need their tax ID number to exempt them from me charging them sales tax. There would be no need for them to have my tax ID. It sounds to me that they want you to do some accounting for them by collecting and paying the sales tax on the order. If not, they will collect it from their customer and then you collect it from them. It is confusing but I just let calling shops know that I do not charge them sales tax as it should be charged to their customer and collected by them. Does everyone agree?

FWOAC, is the answer for the two shops.

On rare occasion the receiving shop will ask for my tax #. Very rarely. Going on 6 years WS free.

I am not in a wire service even though today makes 2 times in the past 2 months they have tried, LOL. JUST not sure I want in one with what everyone else says and etc. ANYWAYS........I always charge tax on my end...and when I call one out I tell them I collected the tax on my end ( I haven't ever been asked to give my tax #). When I receive a call with an incoming order I don't tax them. I have several shops since I opened that call me with cc orders ( since I am not in a wire service). I asked my accountant and he said that was the right thing to do..........I hope so, if not :spintongu, I'll let him deal with the tax people, LOL ( my accountant is my husband)lol!!!!!!

These florist 2 florist transactions are exempt from needing to have taxes collected on filling end...

I had a list of state tax laws I used when we were calling these types of orders out

The list may be outdated - be sure and check your own tax code with your dept of revenue!http://www.directblooms.com/salestax/index.html

The request for the tax ID cert is reasonable as these shops are serving as a reseller for your goods and need to support their position of not having collected your tax on this order - When they get an audit, this is their get-out-of-jail for free card.

And that is why I collect Tax IDs from sending shops. I have my you-know-what covered in case of an audit. Most shops have the number memorized so it is easy to ask and write it down on the order.
