It is that time of year where my orders start coming in for painted pumpkins so I was looking through some pics from years past to post on my website. Thought it would be fun to show you some of my favorites.

Yes, I paint them myself. I get orders from restaurants and bars and paint their logos also. I have done the armadillo for Texas Roadhouse and a the owl for Hooters. In October I paint so many that I am usually still painting at midnight. Now people know to place orders early so they start coming in about this time of year. The kids in the area call me the "pumpkin lady."

Those are too cool!

What a great idea and a whole other source of revenue!

Sheesh, and I thought I was cool doing monograms, letters & names on pumpkins for fall weddings and events...

Show off....:thumbsup Good for YOU!

You are a very talented lady. And, this is what I'm talking about - getting creative in different ways to survive. :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup

The shape of Hilary's is too perfect! Do you ever look at a pumpkin and then design an image for it based on the shape? What sort of paint do you use? And if I may so nosey posey, how do you price them? I would love to try some spooky Dia de los Muertos type stuff. Spooky bats etc..
I'm no good at characters though. Thanks for posting them.

I use craft acrylic paint for them. I start with a white base of acrylic with just the shape of the painting and then let that dry and finish painting in layers until it is the way I want it. Another cool idea for Halloween is to paint normal and then fill in areas with glow in the dark paint so that the eyes of bats glow, the windows in haunted houses glow, or make the moon glow. I used to just add $2 for the painted ones on top of normal pumpkin prices but now I have so many to paint I have raised the price. They sell for between $15.99 and $29.99 depending on how complicated the paint.

You need to do a press release and call your local media for coverage. This would be great on your local evening news. And this is great in the paper as well. What a great human interest story, and the buzz for your biz couldn't hurt, either!
