I am in need of 18 16' paper white birch trees to line an aisle for a wedding in May. I have called several nurseries in the Northeast but they all seem to carry just seedlings or small trees. Someone that is willing to ship to Northwest FL. Is that something that a wholesaler in that area would carry?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Sounds like you're looking for growing trees, not cut? If so, I'd start with a local nursery to see if they can special order for you ... I have a friend who is a landscaper & see what he may suggest as well. back later

:)

Kebbie!
Would you just be OK with some silk type on real birch trees? Know you probably have thought of it already, but Preston does use alot of silk mixed with fresh to get those looks.
Have you called Carolyn Shephard or Nancy Kitchen?
Good Luck, Eddie Payne

Don't know if you're aware, but white birch take several years to actualy turn white. If you are lucky enough to find them, the trees will be quite large.

I have a beautiful clump birch in my front yard. I was surprised at how long it took to finally turn white.

There is a wall paper (not sure what brand it is) that is birch bark. There is also birch tree wall paper.
As above, a paper birch with white bark is an old tree, usually too established to "replant" and they do not replant well (believe me, my sister in law tries every year).

Call Sue from Seagrott in Cromwell CT, there is tons of it in CT. Maybe they can subcontract it out to a local and have it shipped on a southbound Armelleni truck. I have a lot of it out back but I can't have a 40 foot tractor trailer on my street.

Kebbie - echoing the thoughts of others in reference to the 16' not being actulally "white" yet - my friend suggested exfoliating birch. Similar branches, some great variegation in the bark & texture, and easily available, in NJ anyway. These would be balled trees, the ball is approx 24" ...

If you're interested, I'll send him your contact info & you can work it out with him.

Kennicott Brother's (Oldtimer here) sells birch stems that are 8~10' tall. You could anchor them to something and either att silk ficus branched (like Boss said) or get fresh branches and attach them with bark covered wire or bullion. It seems very time consuming and expensive!

I agree that the 16' tall trees would be just starting to turn white...plus, at that height the tree would be SUPER heavy. How would you get them from the truck (which you'd have to have deliver to the venue) onto the aisle...you'd need a forklift. Aside from the height, the rootball would be quite large! JMHO! Sorry to be a downer, I am just always paranoid about logistics!

Kennicott says they have a source for 15'-18'. And at a very reasonable price. If I were to go with the balled trees I would have to ask them to cut off the ball and just send the tree. I don't need the weight or the roots. I'm still exploring options.

Um... we can go out and cut trees for you.

You need them 16 feet tall? what diameter trunk? and how many? and what was the date? I'm not sure what the best shipping method would be....

Thanks for the offer. I need 16 16'-18' and 2 10'-12'. I don't know what diameter the trees should be at that height. I have several other specs also. They must all be very similar in size and as white as possible. The quote I got from Kennicott was about $1000 for shipping by truck. Should I give you a call? If so, let me know what is a good time and PM number. Thanks
