Just got word that if 800flowers does not cooperate with me in the next few days I can tell them to go POUND SAND! Ha Ha!

Thanks for the tip Hal. Are they easy to reconize when they send them that way?
As for the confusion, I have been trying to get the boss here to quit taking these orders for a while now. I finally got the ok to do so if they do not change they way they send us the orders. We currently have to rekey them which is just more chances for a mistake to happen and wastes time.
 
Partner..ha ha, that is what they like to call it. The order just comes to us by leaving a browser window open (netscape) and it prints out if there is a new order when the screen refreshes. So yes is the answer to your question I guess. And this is where the problem is, they will not let us interface our software so we do not have to retype them.
 
We were approached by them last year by someone on the phone to be an order filler. We took a pass on their orders because each one reads like a book. Typing everthing out could be a little onerous.

I wondered how they were going to transmit the orders.

MAS Customer George they are very worried about us !!! Why I dont understand. We have interfaces written for all the services however some elect not to lets us connect..
 
Kirk you mean that LOW TECH MAS SYSTEM won't work for you?
I can get you the number of a Cheaper system!:spin lol
 
The system works fine and we all know that the 800 orders could be easily dropped in. In fact it could probably be done without them knowing about it. The thing that makes me mad is we have been filling their orders for about 5 years now faithfully, barely making a cent off of them. And I ask for one simple favor and they flat out refuse to cooperate. Why? I have no idea. It makes absolutely no sense to me or anyone else I ask. So before the holidays get here it is going to be settled once and for all.

Why would 1800-FLOWERS by worried about MAS?
Are you guys planning on going into the order gathering business??? :)

How could it be done without them knowing about it? The have to give you the client and they have to send you the file.

Order gatthering ? Where have you been ?Dont you know they are the next thing to a wire service? They have their own network and computer system... They want their network to have their computer not a competitors, soon all will understand that we are not the anti-christ...

They live by the system of , "do it our way or don't do it at all". I'd tell them to go pound sand too. :) :>

Yes, I know they have their own computer system. A couple of flowerSoft customers are fulfillment centers for 800-Flowers. flowerSoft works nicely in their system. Incoming orders transfer automatically into flowerSoft.
What I don't understand is why do they consider you a competitor? You are a software company, aren't you? They are an order gathering organization. How do you compete?
 
Maybe it cannot be done without them knowing about it, I said probably. I certainly am not going to waste my time trying to figure it out. And yes they flat out said it was not going to happen, but they could sell me some of their crap instead. BTW I never mentioned what system I was using, it did not matter to them apparently as they never even asked me. Oh yeah the person I was talking to said that if I left the system that was receiving orders now on our network it would not work. Huh? It's been on a network for 5 years. I will know which way this is all going to go tomorrow or Monday.
