What a cheap low down way of doing business. If you do not opt out, everytime you get your statement you have to pay $3.99 to get your bill. The postage on my enveloppe was $1.78. Plus the cost of the enveloppe and paper and ink to print these things, teleflora will and can actually make money on statement billing.

They know that all business needs a written copy of their statement in case you get audited by the goverment.

Fair? No. Only big greedy coporation can do this. Phone companies, gas, electricity. What do you think would happen to small business like us if we start charging our customers a fee to establish an account or even get our bills. I am sure we would not last long.

Even teleflora gives you step by step instruction to opt out and their web site is not even showing those options. I looked it up yesterday and the options are not even online.

So I have decided NOT TO PAY ANYMORE. I am opting out and printing
my own statement of 13 pages on my own printer now saving me money instead of paying $3.99.

I will also voice my displeasure with my Canadian office of this cost.

I will also talk to all members in my area to do the same.

Billing is part of doing business. Why does it have to be passed on to the receiver.

Luc, they're just copying FTD as they started this a couple months ago. None of them have original ideas! Well 800 did when they allowed us to opt out of getting the paper directory....

Once thing, I don't even print mine, I download and save an electronic copy... no need for the paper one...

I opted out as soon as I read my statement. May opt out of the publications too, but they didn't know at that time how much they were going up.

Credit Card Companies and Banks have been trying to get their customers to go online for statements along time. Just a cheaper way of doing business.

We can email our statements to our customers too!

At least they gave you instructions on how to opt out........that's more than FTD did, oh yah they also didn't put the going green spin on it when it's just another way to increase dues (profits).
25000 members X 3.99 = $99750.00 per month in extra income with no increased costs.

Going GREEN = $$$$$ Really GREEN!

Sadly, we're going to see a lot more of this sham as more companies use the GREEN thing to shift their expenses over to their clients.

SAVE A TREE? That's BS since TREES are a renewable resource and lumber and logging companies plant ten new seedlings for every one tree they harvest. Not to mention how many of their family members depend upon those jobs to put food on their tables.

Besides, where's the difference in mailing out the paper statements from the vendor as opposed to the customer having to print them out at their end. Same PAPER USE, right? The only difference is in WHO PAYS for it in the end.

STUPID ENVIRONMENTALIST PROPAGANDA!

In California, Farmers and Farms are dried up and DYING all because of the EPA and a small minnow called the Delta Smelt Fish, they want to save.

Another example of when the EPA puts an endangered FISH before endangering HUMANS and throws 80 thousand people out of work while forcing the US to import more foreign produce to fill our needs.

....

....yep, all it is is a way to transfer the expense.
FTD use the 'politically correct' sham to begin the
expense transfer and now teleflora saw the
opportunity to raise more 'fee' income. Morons.
Leave en mass.

and everyone thought I was crazy trying to charge a convenience fee for the internet orders to recoup my charges, I guess what I really am is an innovative thinker.....thinking like a big very big money making company....instead of a small, very small money losing company...

I got my notice re: the new billing charges also.

Do the math......

$3.99 @ 25,000 members = $100,000. (almost)

& I know that there are more than 25,000 members between USA & Canada.

Not chump change, my friend........ this is just another TF revenue stream!

Another day of being squeezed on all ends when doing business.

We are all trying to give our customers an affordable product but it is reaching a point that it will be no longer be possible to do this and keep our business profitable.

As cost continue to rise COG, Insurance, Rent, Payroll, and Technology it will reach a point that it we will no longer have a affordable product.

We have to figure out a way to cut cost to increase our profitability or it will be the end of small business in the very near future.

I am at a loss what to do but I cannot continue to operate this way much longer.

I called and told my canadian office that it is not right. It is a revenue than to cover an expense. Even told them I can't opt out on the site.
She proceed to tell me that you now have to go to Member service first and then there is a line that give you the option to opt out.

I even told her that I was phoning the Canada Consumer affair and see if Teleflora is in it legal right to charge this fee. I know in Canada that if you dont sign up for a program they can't charge us.

FYI, I've read somewhere that it costs an average of $4.50 (big or tiny home town florist) to send a Statement. That's why we try to get a credit card instead of sending a statement!

It's just another irritating fee - $50/year. No one will quit over than amount.

It's not the little ones like this that really cost us. (Irritating but not really notable in the scheme of things). It's the 'auto increases' from health insurance, business insurance increases with zero losses for years, worker's comp insurance (23% across the boards in CA), sales tax that OGs are not forced to collect or remit (10% increase here to a level of 8.75%), merchant CC fee increases for affinity cards, yadda, yadda ...

Everyone writes themselves a raise but us.
