I don't mean to come off as condescending but I think this could be a timely reminder.

A florist in New York called Fairport Florist was seized by the govt. for not paying taxes. Here's the short story http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20080926/NEWS01/80926033/1002/NEWS

Anyway, the reminder is that even if times get very very tough, taxes, especially payroll taxes and sales taxes should be the first things you pay. They don't mess around when it comes to non-payment. You will lose your business, and in some cases will be personally liable for the taxes even if you declare bankruptcy.

This has been a public service announcement :hammer:

Personally, I couldn't sleep nights if I didn't pay taxes. Uncle Sam scares me!

He scares me too! If I didn't pay my taxes, the government would take what I've worked for and what my dad worked for too.

It's becoming more obvious daily that they really need the money, too.

You know that IRS agents have no sense of humor? I paid my 941 deposit late one month in 2007 and they caught up with me and fined me $45. I got the letter last week. I called to see if I could appeal (why not try?!) and the agent I spoke to did not even laugh when I explained it all to her. "I am so sorry but I spent that $45 already on my mansion down the road. I am really sorry I made that poor business decision. Really, I am. I am contacting the U.S. Congress tomorrow to see if they can bail me out. Can you just send them the bill?"

Needless to say, I had to quickly finish up that call and promise to send a check immediately. The IRS should really lighten up. Don't ya think?
