Have an Aug wedding, S.C. Bride would like pink peony for her bridal bouq. Is there any to be found at this time in Aug? Second pick was pink ranunculus,
same problem! I was told by supplier no go with these flowers too. So is there a sub. that may be used with the alike characteristics as a peony? Looking for any help here. TIA

Far as I know, they'll be done by then...

Next best choice...Hydrangia...??

Didn't I read somewhere that there was a peony farm in alaska thus making them available year round?? Or was I dreaming?

I haven't heard of this, By the end of cost to ship and every thing else, my luck she'd change her mind. I've e-mailed her already so there's time to revamp

Ok Elmo, I'll shut off the cameras and answer your question. Watch, now that I am here, I probably just missed the biggest drug crossing ever.

Remember the earth tilts, when it's summer here, it's winter down under.
I have pretty ranunculas in August from New Zealand. Also the US Garden Varieties of roses open up fat and lovely. The SA Expression rose when opened fully is fabulous too.

Here is a calender from NZBloom if your wholesaler won't buy for you.

Aileens comment about peonies in Alaska sparks curiosity. I would like to know that one.

Thanks Fly, put them on my LIST,if it doesn't work out, what's your thinking on the cabbage rose? Now you can get back to your cameras.Keep the thoughts flowing!!! Aileen's comment.... ok Fly, you got the time check it out... go man. hehe ( what a crappy DAY here)

ooooh yes Elmo use the cabbage rose...I love those!! LOve LOve Peonies....I understand your grief. My good friend got married in early aug last year in Vegas. I wanted to do peonies for her too....bummer.

The Peony/Alaska thing is bothering my brain...where DID I see that? ggrrrrr

I know don't ya just hate it when your mind goes on Vac. hahah

YEs I keep envisioning a neon almost dead blinking light saying VACANCY

Aileen, I have not heard anything about Alaska growing peonies year round. I do know some Isreali farms were working on it. I think it will be tough as the Peony is a herbaceous plant and needs to die back and regenerate itself for the next blooming season. It would require a tremendous about of labor to most the root stock to a cool place to rest and then replant and force the blooms. Bulbs are easy, they are small and easily stored. Peonies not so easy.

Amazing....yes there summer would be much later than ours...I am going to check it out....thanks Eileen!!

makes me wanna go to Alaska and buy a farm...I know absolutely nothing about farming but I CAN DO IT!! I almost went to Alaska for college...go figure!

Thanks, went on line to check it out, but I don't want to be a grower, couldn't fine some where to buy the flower, not plant them, I'm still searching... think it will be a no for this bride. I knew her wedding was to easy!!!! Always happens, was just kidding my self. what a crap day... been researching feels like all day. Have a wedding on Mothers Day weekend, hope to heck things fall in place well for that one!!! It's a drop and run, husband thinks I shouldn't charge a delivery fee to Brides!!! Just cause they paid so much for the flowers. When he gets the look(haha) he zip's it!! haha
Bless his heart, I don't feel like jokes about what I should do! Just don't wanta hear him talk today, bad mood!!!:drunk:
