I have a bride who would like a peony pomander with crystals and pearls... my thought is that this will not last very well... I have not had luck with peonies in oasis. Is there a trick or has any one ever done a peony pomander?

Thanks!

Iggy

I wouldn't sell it to her. I would tell her you can't stand behind a design (or sell it) if you can't predict how it will last. my experience is peonies are a vase only type flower. poor quality in oasis. sorry, but i'd rather piss the bride off now than at her wedding.
hope that helps

I was thinking silk too. Or... would it be possible to glue fresh into a premade tulle pouf? That's how I do w/spray roses but peonies might be too heavy. Or you could do a "reverse" hand tied bouquet where you make an extremely rounded bouquet and have the stems cut down and have ribbon loops sort of creating the top half of the "pomander"... then have a larger ribbon loop for her to hold... not sure if any of these ideas will hold up. Just throwing thoughts around,

Yea.. that's what I thought too. Told her I couldn't do it with real peonies, but I could with silks...

Have you thought about freeze dried peonies?...I have used these in b.q.'s when it was to expensive/out of season.

Great idea! I have never had any problems at all with peonies in oasis in
centerpieces or large floral designs for that matter, but I wouldn't want
to attempt an oasis ball using peonies. But freeze dried might just do the
trick!
We do the "reverse" method mentioned above, but we use carnations
for those...which of course hold up thru everything!
