Just reading through some marketing material for this company. It looks like a new wire service that is a "non-profit floral retail cooperative owned by its members".

The membership dues are a flat $165 a month and orders are allocated based on a predetermined rotation system.

Anyone have any familiarity with them? Here is a link to their site www.payflorist.com

Not shopping for a new wire service, I'm just curious..

Sorry, any company that cloaks their identity, suggests they have something to hide...

And how can they allocate orders that they do not have?? $165/month does not guarantee they will get your $1650.00 worth of orders EACH month to cover the membership cost.

It seems like I saw that name mentioned here a year or so back but doubt they will attract many flies with that monthly fee

Especially with the products they are showing. Hard to discern any difference in the designs, un-inspired to say the least.

And.......when I typed in my zip-code for myschool to search for a school to benefit from my purchase, there ARE no schools listed. Even though there are 3 elementary, 2 secondary, and one high school just in my zip code. So who gets that 10%? Certainly not the "partner" florist. WS wannbe using a feel-good gimmick.

Interesting, My shop is listed as the goto shop for the 02176 area...when I called I got a creepy answering service message..then I called again and got a person, he will be calling me back with his spiel..I'll report back later..

They must have a bunch of pages...here's one for zip code 04462

from what the guy was telling me....it is member owned and they have documentation...supposedly..

10% of each order goes to the school, 2% goes to the accounting, 3% to cc clearing blah blah, blah. Because it is member owned you get a statement showing everything and where it went...they have 70 members but sed orders out to over 4000 florists, hench the reason I am listed, they use this as a recruiting method as far as I can tell...I couldn't get any info on the man I spoke to even though I asked several times or what his exact affiliation with this company were/are...he read the mission statement/business plan to me and it was all about the difference between a distribution service and a delivery service( he was calling WS a delivery service) differnce being with the ws you are working for them and have no control, with the distribution service(theirs) you own it so you keep control..sounds like a whole bunch of hogwash to me, I am still waiting for the email he promised and he wouldn't tell me the fees until I read the email...I hate that crap....he talked and talked and talked but didn't say a word..

Funny, but I really think I have just as much control with the ws everyday I choose to either belong and fill and send or not belong and quit...sounds like the same thing I would be choosing with this service, either belong, pay my money send and receive or quit....maybe it is me that is stupid...

800Flowers, being the more progressive of the 3 companies knows their days are numbered, They know, like in the '60's florists are tuning in, (FC, PFF) turning on (getting educated) and turning off (merc/dove/BMT)... they know they need to ride this train as long as it lasts, but they also know that if they plan to keep any order flow going they have to come up with a new gig.

I do not see that happening. Wire services as we knew them are dead. They simply refuse to acknowledge the fact.

As more florists realize they are upside down in their wire service of choice, even I was with my volume, and they begin to help consumers find filling florists directly the snowball effect will grow and grow as consumers begin to share with consumers how they do it.

We're getting many 'thanks yous" so you folks must be doing a good job for the folks we send your way. And we've started to get the calls of "my neighbor said if I called you , you would give me the number to your preferred florist in Anaheim, Dewitt, or where ever they need to send flowers to.

I truly believe, that by us giving out numbers, and sharing the how's and why's we're doing it, that we have once again begun to increase customer loyalty. At least that's what the customers are telling us.

here is the business plan that was sent to me...

I was put off the moment I read the part about the creative mind part. I mean really, the attitude seems to be that we are a dis-functioning group of people who can't think for ourselves, and certainly cannot understand all of the complexities of running a business, which is why they will do that for us.

Apparently the business plan was written in simple language that us "creative" could understand. I'm sure that is why "duel" was used in place of dual.

I was especially intrigued about "Senators". Apparently, those who have "highspeed" internet are the only ones who get to make the "big" decisions, oh, and pay a higher monthly fee. As the "business plan" unfolded, and I managed to do the math with my poor little brain, this plan took about 8 years to come to fruition. It must have been written that long ago, and was never re-written as technology changed.

I wouldn't touch this sucker with a 20 foot pole. They plan on having 10,000 or more florists signed up for this global clearinghouse, a complete monopoly. It clearly states that the florists would belong to a non-profit co-op. But the monthly fees would bring in over 1.5 MILLION dollars PER MONTH. That's just the membership fee. But that's okay because they state that the OTHER 5 parts will be capitalistic. Then, because you allow them to process all orders through their network site, they have the opportunity to invest that money that they hold. Even holding it a couple days would reap HUGE profits. My feeble little creative brain can just hardly take it in, of course, but it smacks of a union to me. There does not seem to be a provision for the member florist to share in any of that profit.

Of course not....silly!

One thing I find intriguing, they cloak the who behind the gig. For this to work, they have to have a clearing house, which, in the US are federally regulated just like banks. Part of that requires someone to put up a few million bucks to guarantee they will pay what they owe members... I could not find anything on them searching IRS databases... I could have missed it, but....

Do we really need another "service" to help fleece the florist/consumer relationship... I think not~!
