I'm so excited! Took delivery of my copies of
Phil Rullodas Tropical & Contemporary Floral Design, The Yes I can DVD & Cathys wedding forms DVD. My staff is really enjoying the new techniques in the book & video. I set up my laptop in the design room. They can't get enough of it. They get to "play with foliage after they get there work done. LOL. We have already sent some sympathy work out using the weaving techniques. Really cool stuff. These styles & techniques make us stand out at the funeral home. As Phil stresses in the video, these help us stay ahead of the mass marketers and our competitors. Now we just have to become familiar with using, caring & stocking some of the more unusual tropicals. :bouquet2::bouquet2:phil, Great Job on the book! Debbie McKinstry

My copy of Phil's book is one of my most prized possessions!

Debbie -

Phil says:

Thank you so much for your kind comments. I'm so glad that you've taken the foliage techniques and applied them to generate more sales and 'wow' for your shop. As long as you can keep TeePee, flax or hala foliage in stock, you'll be ready to add a foliage weave accessory.

The school has added some newer techniques to our California classes so if anyone is interested in hands-on instruction, give me a call.

If you're looking for a good source for tropicals (flowers and foliages), I highly recommend Green Point Nurseries.
Again, thanks for letting us know you like the book & video. :)

My Pleasure Phil & Cathy, A couple of us in the shop are trying to figure things out for next year. We looked over the 2007 class schedule to get somewhat of an idea about 08.( Looks like its non stop for you! ) When the '08 schedule comes out we'll make some solid plans. Debbie

My copy of Phil and Silverio's book is also one of my most prized possessions.....as well as one of my oft used reference and work books.

Cathy mentioned and idea from another thread about a book featuring the creative body-flowers worn by attendees at AIFD National Symposium - If it hasn't been done yet, Who do you think would be the best person to toss the idea to Cathy?

I am thinking either Marie or Rich at TF or Talmadge at FR would be the best people to start the idea with.

Thank you for letting us know of the book & video.
I'm always looking for something new!!

Books and video

I just bought the tropical book, video and wedding book.
I can't wait. I have a special event in October and I want to use
tropicals. I know I will be inspired.

I remember seeing Phil's book years ago when I first started, I was amazed. I'm afraid I have a limited budget and since I'm getting a reputation for creative designs along this line, what would you recommend, the book or the video first? I feel like I can go much further and be a better designer and use more creative techniques to gain more new customers, our store has a good base of higher end clients.

Its a toss up...I think I'd figure out a way to swing for both! But the video might be good to get first as Phil demonstrates the weaving techniques & designs up close. Then maybe next month you can buy the book! I've watched the video over & over and then compare the written directions in the book. Book has beautiful picture & illustrations. Off to a festival , Have a great Sunday! Debbie

Thanks, looks like I'm going to make it to the Portland, Or market for their next big event, I will have to hold off on the video for a bit as I will have to pay my own hotel. If I could I would buy it all now, but will have to wait and maybe request it as a Christmas present. :>

We're going to be there this time as well - perhaps you can say hi if you spot us/me - I'll be the devastatingly handsome (opnions do vary tho...) white haired older gentleman with the lovely Asian bride with very long hair - so if you see me, do say hi

Do they issue name tags there, I can't remember? I'll look for you and there are a couple of others from here going as well. I'm just average, and probably over average in size lol, not much to go on, sorry. Maybe I should wear a flower, unless there are lots others doing that too.

So I guess that I'll be the "tag-a-long". Come say Hi to me too. At least you'll know what I look like. I'll be somewhere around the hippo butts.

Hope to meet you.

Very handsome as hippo butts go I suppose. I'll try and look ya'll all up, remember, I'll be the one looking lost. Supposed to be a couple of others there too from this board. Hope the weather is nice, I have a long drive from the east side of Washington state and looking forward to getting away from the madness here for a day or so.
