Hi Plushzone,

Thanks for your interest in our community! I have a few additional questions.

Being new to the floral business, did you take any classes to prepare yourselves (care & handling, design)? How long have you been working with flowers?

I know you mentioned operating out of 2 residences now, do you have proper refrigeration in those homes? Are you properly licensed in your area (tax number, business permit, etc)? What is your timeline for finding a commercial building?

What do you hope to gain by adding fresh flowers to your company? Do you deliver?

I don't mean to be nosy, it's just that we are somewhat protective of professional florists and their hard learned knowledge.

Thanks!

Introduction post

Hello everyone,
we are Plushzone, and we are new to Flowerchat. We have been selling plush, candles and some religious gift items for over 4 years. We recently got into fresh flowers and silks. We hope to gain industry knowledge from this site and hopefully contribute a few things we have learned along the way.

thanks for having us!

Hi Plushzone,

Thanks for your interest in our community! I have a few additional questions.

Being new to the floral business, did you take any classes to prepare yourselves (care & handling, design)? How long have you been working with flowers? No, I have not taken any formal classes, but I have worked with flowers off and on for about 10 years.

I know you mentioned operating out of 2 residences now, do you have proper refrigeration in those homes? Are you properly licensed in your area (tax number, business permit, etc)? What is your timeline for finding a commercial building? Yes, we have our tax ID. we found a building but we would like to be able to have a storefront with storage in the back and possibly a second unit to rent out. Our internet plush business is going well, so we need additional space for it.

What do you hope to gain by adding fresh flowers to your company? Do you deliver? We have done a few local partys and some small weddings. We would like to get deeper into fresh flowers and do more events.

I don't mean to be nosy, it's just that we are somewhat protective of professional florists and their hard learned knowledge.

Thanks!

Thanks for the interest.

Ok, I only have 2 more questions...then I promise I'll leave you alone!!!

Are you planning to keep your business primarily internet based and sell flowers online...if so, are you going to join a wire service? With the online portion of your business, will you be marketing to gather flower orders for national delivery, or just offering an added service (fresh flowers) for your local customers?

Thanks for your candor in answering my PITA questions!

Hello,
Your website says you have wholesaled plush to florist for 10 years, and have just added the website to sell plush to the public.

This sorta feels like a fox in the hen house...

Everyone is entitled the start a business, but how do you think all those florist that buy plush from you feel about your selling that plush direct to the public on the web?

Most reputable wholesalers would not think of selling direct to the public, probably because they know their wholesale clients would leave them or be offended at the least.

I don't think you have a clue of what a florist does. What it takes!

So your getting a large building to house your plush, and you think you'll just through a florist together for the front??????

I'm sorry it this sounds harsh, but I think it's probably best if you stick to plush.

I vote no thanks.

Plush as a category is dying. We moved our business to the net because it seemed like a good fit back when the web was hot. Now, not so much. We feel like the floral business is much more who we are, and so we are making the transition. Maybe this is not a good site for us. I feel unwelcome!

Making you feel unwelcome is not the intent... learning more so we can make an informed decision is.

What kind of flower shop do you want to have? Will it be full service with designers, delivery etc?
