I can no longer use my debit card until I get it replaced because (thank goodness for bank security and police) my card has been "compromised".

A "reader" was discovered at an undisclosed location where my card (along with a multitude of others) was copied.

I'm thankful again, that nothing has gone missing from my account (again, great security).

I can't get to a bank to replace until Thursday evening... I'm pissed off and I hope they catch the thieving bastards, or if that doesn't happen, may kharma be especially nasty to them.

It's a shame they choose not to use their obvious intelligence for the greater good.

Whoa... you are mad huh ;)

Yep, it's pretty easy these days...all you need is a quality, battery operated web cam and a pc sitting within range of the camera. Stick it up above an ATM and grab the image of the card, and the PIN code and bye bye cash...

Honey... I'm BEYOND mad... I'm seriously pissed off. They are intruding on my personal business, my ability to buy gas, or wine, or groceries or an airplane (you get the picture). I can't even access my on-line account because, obviously for security reasons, the bank slammed that door shut too.

Bone -headed, butt- faced, nit- witted, morons.

That sucks V! I'm sorry this happened...look on the bright side. You get a shiny brand new card o go shopping with. I know...this doesn't help..I tried! hugs

Sorry V. That really does suck out loud! Now you're financially paralyzed til Thurs! I hope the dirtbags puke tonight!

You have my sympathies. I have had my cc# stolen multiple times. Don't expect any retribution. The first time I asked the CC company if they were going to look for the person, they laughed at me and said, "Oh no maam, this happens way too often."

I'm sorry for you, I know that horrible pit in your stomach that comes when you find out what happened. It does go away though.

Wow !!!!! I guess that make me fortunate indeed. I monitor my Mom's accounts on her behalf with our bank and here a while back, we discovered some shenanigans with the amounts......Our bank immediaely notified me.....Mom was in the hospital still recovering from the car accident, and together, The bank and I went after the scum.....I am happy to say that all monies recovered and the scum are sitting behind bars for a looooooong time.

V, this also happened to me last year when the new Staples store opened. Someone had a 'reader' machine in there too. Nothing was taken from my accounts - bus or personal - but it was a royal pain in the butt not being able to access my accounts. I drove all the way to my bank in another town only to find out that I could have went to the closest branch to get a new debit card. Would have been nice if they had told me that when they called.

BTW: I'd never gotten a call like that before so I asked for the person's name and phone number, called my bank first and then called back the security company, just to be sure it was all legit. It was.

This also happened to my son just before Xmas. Another reader machine in another new business. He lost only $80 or so, thank goodness. But another guy in his office lost close to $1,000!

Far as I know no one was ever caught.

Dorothy... my first thought was, when I heard the weird computer voice on my voice mail, I'm calling my bank to confirm.

Thank goodness the security was in place so nothing was stolen. Had I been missing funds they would have been replaced... thank goodness for our system.

But I am paralyzed financially until Thursday (the earliest I can get to the bank). I'm glad I paid my bills on line last week!

Sharon my dear, you don't know the half of it. I'm thinking I was a hard partying sailor in another life. ;) Thank you too for making me laugh out loud. :)

V, I'm sorry to hear this happened!

Never use a credit card on an x-box live account. I used it to by a $3.00 Map for my sons game. $1500.00 worth of x-box live accounts were set up using all my info. Each account cost $60.00 for the year. Someone hacked the account to get the info and then set up accounts at my expense and then sold them to people.

I only use one credit card, it took 7 days receive the new one.

Don't ever let your card out of your sight.

EVER.

Huge mistake that people make.....

They go to a restaurant, comes time to pay the bill and put their card in the folder that comes with the bill and hand it to wait staff and bye bye card numbers.

My sister is a server, I am by no means saying all wait staff are thieves, but it only takes one...

Never EVER leave sight of your card.

Cover the numbers on a pin pad with one hand before typing in the numbers with the other. Who cares if people think you look stupid.

PAY ATTENTION when you do have to hand off your card. Be sure it is swiped in one location.

Sorry this is happening to you V.

What do you mean you have no cash till Thursday! Use you casino cash till then!

geez V, tell us how you really feel......
honest, having had my cards "compromised" three times in the past year (and those mostly because processors or stores had hacks)...tis really a pain in the arse............ I do really know where you're at.
When you figure 4 accounts all with cards, X 3 times this year....
