Postcards from Ecuador

I arrived in Quito on Sunday and started Flowers for Kids training with Ramiro on Monday morning, this is great stuff, can't wait to get back to start using it in the classrooms and sharing with others!

Monday evening we attended a book launch and signing for photographer Anamaria Chediak's new book "Bloom". The photography is amazing, much of it macro photography, a particular favorite of mine. I purchased a copy of the book, it is photographs and information about several farms here in Ecuador, many of them Flowers for Kids sponsors. Anamaria was gracious enough to speak with me for several minutes and allow me to use her book image and autographed my copy of "Bloom".

This is the fountain in the courtyard of the facility the book signing was held, very stunning in its simplicity and all lit up at night. The picture doesn't even begin to do it justice.

Today we visited two flower farms, I'll try to get those pictures and some info posted tonight. Enjoy!

One of my deputies, Chrissie Bestley, is in Quito as I write attending the flower show and doing the growers. Not sure if you are on the same trip but if you are have a huge amount of fun (not difficult given the wonderful place you are in) send her our love and give Robin a big hug from me.

JFMA Presentation

Whew, not enough time to post everything while in Ecuador and back to a straight out week. I've lots to more to post!

I participated in a Flowers For Kids presentation to the Japanese Floral Marketing Association, they were very enthusiastic about the program and asked lots of questions, great group of people, saw them several times after the presentation at various functions and farm tours organized by Agriflor.
