What wire service do you prefer?

I chose bloomnet, however I really do not have a preference. They both werve very different purposes in my life.....

TF serves as my WS, it pays for my internet and my comp system. I can be involved in the education and I do all my WO through them..

Bloomnet is my money maker and flower mover...

Most will answer that they do not have one prefered...All depends on how you see things and what they are doing for you.

I would have like the phrase...USE the most....

I talk to a lot of flower shops due to my greenhouse business and the overriding common reason for any of these flower shops to be in FTD is because they owe money to FTD for Advantage.

Plain and simple.

they are stuck.

The underriding reason why some remain with FTD is the antiquated thought that FTD is still the premier ws.

TF is so much more florist oriented.

Very true...but TF is going downhill by taking dot.com orders lately as well.

Kinda liking asking the condemned whether they prefer hanging, gassing, shooting, or injection, isn't it?

That was the first thing that came to my mind, anyway.

I have to choose TF since it seems to have better quality florist then the others.

Seriously though I would say that after using FTD Bloomnet and Teleflora
I have had very little problems with my Teleflora Orders and the members mostly seemed to be polite and professional.

I could be lucky though...

I have been thinking for days what I have to say about the wire services.
Here goes.....

First, one point that I have not heard is that delivering wire in orders is a form of marketing. At least for me. I get lots of incoming wires and I try to use that opportunity to showcase my work to the community at large.
I also do follow up marketing to the recipients of floral gifts.
The wire service provides me with addresses of consumers that use/receive floral products. What is that info worth? A lot, in my book.
I have captured many, many, many clients from sending them flowers from a wire in order. Large corporate accounts.

Besides that, I dislike what the og and wire services are doing to my business's profitability.

To me, Teleflora is the better of all the other services.
They have a huge florist base. The company is still owned by the Resnicks'
They have kept it a private company for I believe almost 30 years. I admire them for that.
They don't drop ship or sell any other product not coming from a flower shop.
They still promote and sponsor education
They are business people, the same as we are. They need to make a profit.

I wonder if they could be convinced to rethink the commission structure.
I know I am probably nuts. Of course they are not going to p off their large og companies. But, what if????

My point is that Teleflora makes money on the technology and support they sell us, they make money on the credit card processing service, they make money on the containers they make us buy. Co op advertising, etc. There are many avenues of revenue for them.
I have been noticing more and more small towns with no FTD or TF florist. Teleflora needs the florist to be a business partner. What good is it to gather an order, when there is no florist to service it?

If Teleflora came up with a realistic plan, they could reunite and possible re earn the trust of florist??

Am I too naive???

No I don't think so, I know it could be done, but they (the Resnick's) do NOT want to fix the issues. Trust me, they are FULLY aware of them, even to the point of KNOWING that they are still helping Urban Florist, reconstituted as E-florist Inc to get their gathered orders filled!

The key word in your quote above is **IF**...but greed is still ruling the wire industry.

"Other" for me. IFA. Never, ever, had a single problem with them. No OGs, no containers, very low fees, no problem finding filling florists. Our orders are sent and received via FASnet.

ditto IFA>

Personally, If I had to have a wire service as part of my floral business.....I would have to go with Teleflora.......for one simple reason......the education opportunities associated with Teleflora.
Do they have over-priced containers?.....YES
Can you occasionally get a rare good deal?.....YES
Do they support the dot. cons and stab us in the back like the other wire services?.....YES....although the wound is not quite as deep and not always aimed right at the jugular.
Do the other services have educational opportunities associated with them?....YES.....I think IFA is the only exception.
Lastly.....In today's marketplace, with the ready access that most anyone has to the internet, and the proliferation of personal and corporate credit cards....Is a wire service really needed and relevant to today's business environment?......NO

EXACTLY ! ! ! So why is an obsolete and unneeded concept which is threatening the very existence of our industry even an issue any more? Why does it even still exist?

Answer in one (1) word . . . S T U P I D I T Y . As one of my favorites comedians likes to say, you can't fix "STUPID". So it's not even worth rehashing any more.

No, the answer is that we still have customers who rely on us to send and receive orders. Not everyone of our customers and recipients have embraced the internet and online shopping.

Anectodally, this phenomenon seems to be generational. The younger customers are online while the older generation relies on my wire services and my business for the out-of-town flower sending needs.

Not dis-agreeing with you being able to provide that customer service of sending their flowers out of town, out of state, or even out of country.....but what is stopping you from using the company card, going online, and calling a florist in the recipients town directly and placing that order for your client.
If you have a concern about quality.....it is my opinion that if you speak to their designer, that you will soon get a feel if He or She can fill your order as your customer requested.
The wire service is truly obsolete in today's marketing and marketplace environments.

All true. When we switched completely from sending wire orders to direct 100% called out orders, we totally eliminated complaints on orders sent out of town for customers. Even started getting compliments on them again. And that's something we hadn't heard in a long time on wire orders.

With a direct call, we can determine availability and florist attitude before placing the order. If we don't get a good feel, we move on. We feel that this extra degee of care and service is what our customers pay for and deserve.

Not in my world.

For a small shop like ours I still hold to my findings that Florists' Interlink is perfect for us. Over 1 1/2 years later I still have not had any problems at all and am paying a fraction of all the charges I paid when we were FTD. When a city does not have coverage they handle the whole thing. They have tons of shops they do business with all the time using THEIR credit card that give the discount. Occasionally they do not and that's fine by me. All the money I have saved in membership, etc. fees allows me to give 100% once in a blue moon when I have to.

Once I found out every single possible fee I could possible be charged I was more content. I am not charged any of those other fees as I did my homework.

They might be one of the obscure ones - but in my book I discovered a gem.

This may or may not be appropriate, but, I have yet to receive a complaint regarding an order sent, by whatever means, to a FC member.
To me, that says a whole lot !

Thanks to all.
and.................Happy, safe, healthy and prosperous holidays !
