I got a real kick out of that!!
One problem.....people SHOULD speak MORE than one language, and few Americans (some, are AMAZINGLY gifted in alternate language skills) make ANY effort to do so, even when THEY visit "foreign" lands....

Agreed Mike (man this is becoming a habit). It makes life more interesting and a whole lot easier when you are travelling. At least to make the effort is important to the host country.
I loved that song! Even though it sounded a bit 'country' . My grandparents came here in the 1900s and they made every effort to learn the language!! They held on to their Italian culture, but they became citizens, worked, and became part of this wonderful "melting pot" called America!

I think visiting is one thing, but when they are permanent residents to America, they should learn the national language. The fact that when I call 911 and I have to wait on the phone while they speak in Spanish, it is ridiculous! And I am not joking, we had a truck on fire outside of our store one day, and I called 911 for it. An automatic system answers the phone, it then tells you that if you are in immediate danger to set down the phone and find a safe place to hide, and then it proceeds to talk in Spanish. Granted, it is only about 30 second message or so, but I think it is ridiculous. I think if we are going to give Spanish a message, what about Japanese citizens? Just my opinion, but I am not going to continue rambling
