Just curious..how would you translate this design and price as a centerpiece for a wedding say in a tall cylinder with manzanita branches?
hanging crystals and orchids.jpg

We are doing a bunch of these for a wedding this summer. I'm usung a 40 inch tall vase (rental) with a 4 foot manzanita branch balanced across the top (also a rental) The hanging orchids are not that difficult...we wire them at the shop, take it all to the site, and assemble each arrangement in place. Pricing is difficult, because your prices and mine are probebly not the same, but for me, it is 6$ per cymbid blossom,
15$ per phaleonopsis bloom, 25$ rental for the vase, and 40$ for the manzanita branch. The ones I am making also include haging votives, so I add that cost on too. Then I figure out how many man hours on site, (including loading and driving time, and driving back to the shop etc) and add that as a separate line item to the proposal.
Manzanita branches are crazy expensive here...wish I could figure out something as strong, but cheap, that I could find locally.
If the cost is too high, an alternative is to hang dendrobium orchids...way cheaper, but still nice.
Hope this helps.

This is an idea that I helped a friend create last year for a company party. The company was hosting some corporate officials from Japan and we were given the order to maintain a Japanese feel to the decor. We used the tall martini vases from Accent Decor ( 40 inch high if I remember right. ) We created a cone of split bamboo that set down in the vase. Encircling the top was bamboo interspersed with grapevine and dried curly willow.

Cascading down from the branches and cone were string of dendrobium orchids and little origami cranes. After we made each string, attached it to the framework, we took a small plastic bag, gathered the string in it, and secured it to the framework. At installation, we just clipped the wire holding the bag and as we removed the bag, the orchid chain unfurled.

Hi Joanne-
Thanks for the input...do you mind sharing what your final cost per centerpiece is, including set-up?

I'm trying to figure a price that won't be too low that I hurt myself, or too high that it becomes cost prohibitive for the bride. The real stumbling block for me is the labor. How many hours would you guesstimate total labor...time to prep everything and, especially, time to set up on-site. There will be 18-20 tables total.

I have quoted 650$ per table, and expect a 750$ on site set up fee, (which includes the other candles on tables, setting up the larger peices, decorating the cake and cocktail trays, etc.) (3 people, 5 hours each =15 hours @ 50$ per hour. I think it should take about 15 minutes per arrangement once we arrive)
( I also added the option of adding a co-ordinating centerpeice, so that if the price is a bit high, we can do 1/2 the tables with the hanging flower centerpeices, and the other 1/2 with a less expensive option. That way, it creates more interest in the room, and can lower the overall price at the same time.)
Good luck!
Joanne
