I am trying to price out my ribbon. How does everyone else price it out. I mean if I mark it up even 100% I feel that that is not enough, is 500% too much? Just some insight from others would most likely help me out. Thanks in advance!

For instance I am working on centerpieces and wrapping the vase with 2 types of ribbon. I have #40 ivory lace (cost me $11.35 for 25 yards) with #9 plum double satin ribbon (cost me $6.50) to go over that. I am using 23" of each. It works out to $0.69 net price. $1.73 seems too little for me to charge, thats if I do 2.5. I have gone to fabric store and they charge $1.50 for the yard of double satin ribbon. I just want to price my designs right. Thanks!

How long does it take you to wrap each vase and what are you securing the ribbons with. That is what should be figured in to your price, not just the cost.

I worked for a very large company that sold ribbon by the bolt or by the yard. There was a 45% mark-up just for by the yard vs by the bolt. I mean, they charged another half percent just to measure and cut. You cannot be shy about charging fairly for your time.

Just for the record, I would decorate the vase and then decide how much I would be willing to sell just the decorated vase. If it adds another $5 for the decorations and the percieved value is there, go with it.
