Just had a regular customer of mine come in to the shop and wanted to let me know that we delivered to the wrong address on Saturday. She said she didn't understand because she knows that my drivers know where she lives. I told her that I was sure that we didn't have an order for her on Saturday. She goes on to explain that it was in a tall box with the flowers in plastic and the vase in the box! I assured her that I would never deliver flowers in such a way and that if they came from me then they would have been beautifully arranged in the vase when she opened the door and would see our van in the driveway. She was sure I was confused and was sure that the flowers came from me because I am the only florist in town. I politely assured her that it was not me. She brought the box in to show me later and it was a Proflowers box! I was horrified that she thought it came from me! Thank goodness she came in and said something to me and I was able to educate her about Proflowers and convince her that it was not from my shop! Just makes me wonder how many others receive that crap on their doorsteps and think a real florist left it. :itchy:

Unfortunatly many I think. I had to explain the whole "proflowers, 1-800, even TF " thing to many people this year. I had people calling me wanting things from those websites and they assumed the flowers would come from me if they placed the order on those websites.

This is the way the game is being played people.
We get the calls every day. Lose some , win some !

Will I honor their price...............NO.
Will I compete with their quality.............HELL NO !
There is no comparison !

I had a guy come in at Valentines Day and ask us to make his order extra nice because last year's arrangement was pretty sad. When I blurted out "it was'nt from here was it?!?!" he said no it was from PF, but could we make this one extra nice to make it up to her. I politely held my temper and told him that they do the best advertising for us real florists, by proving the old adage that you get what you pay for! Of corse he was one of those 'make it showy' $50 big spenders! Sorry, I'm still a little bitter.

I thinks its time to bring a class action lawsuit against the direct box shippers. They are distroying this industry every holiday and everyday. Sure there are customers that know what they are getting but there are way to many people calling us and making sure that they are getting a designed arrangement in a vase.

It needs to be stopped.
