I didn't get any bites on this in that other thread, so

Anyone going to promote AFM in their shop?

If so, would you please ask them to go to my site and sign up with their email address instead?

Thank you. :tunes:

I love you.

Sure thing, Jon....

Send them right there...

I may be cancelling my product because of that bad picture and recipe deal...

What a great review if everyone cancelled their product orders! This would make for a real embarassment for the internet girl!!!!! There could be NO mother of the year. Like anyone would put that display in thier shop.....please we knoe they would.

I think you may be on to something there Eddie.

They should reduce he cost of the expensive container to make up for the extra flowers they pictured.

course we're nuttin but a bunch of lunatic fringers here

or are we???

Let's ask proflowers!

I hoe that everyone has a call into TF on this item...Maybe if enough of us call they will have to change things...Since the promo material is already printed maybe they will up the price...

I just got the poster for the Diamonds and Roses deal and a counter folder dealio too with how to have your customers sign up for this marvelous contest.

This cinches it - they don't think florists are stupid - they KNOW it.

Make sure your customers sign up on their web site now. They need your customers.

LOL We finally opened up the poster kit today (not that we've used it in years) and I thumbed through the recipes.

That Diamonds and Roses vase price is nearly $10 cost including freight. It includes 8 50 cm roses (which TF says will cost you .78 each during V Day  ) and is supposed to retail for $52.95. I calculate the overall COGs to be more like $22-24 instead of the $15.60 stated in the 'Profit Worksheet'.

A friend mistakenly ordered the vase and says it's very tiny - something like 8" tall.

Both FTD and TF are completely underpriced on Valentines Day. I created a spreadsheet that tracks how far undervalue they are. Hopefully you can read it easily. I haven't gone back to confirm all the numbers. Vases were calculated from memory. And with FTD, they have to stop with those darn medium stem roses!! I think the spreadsheet is clear of errors but basically it calculates vases at 2.5 markup, flowers / .75 labor (25% labor charge), then finally adds the vase and flowers w/ labor together to get a total

http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pfaXrLU-VTPguEqpBV-oFaQ

Basically, according to that, Diamonds and Roses would cost us $70.99 to reproduce. Even if we charged $4 for roses over Valentines Day, the product is still undervalue.

I will put a call into Teleflora because I know my uncle ordered these. I will also talk to our rep if customer service doesn't tell me what I want.

Anyways, you are right the D&R vases are not really that big and they aren't that great of quality, we ended up claiming 13 as damaged because they were poor quality.

I say refuse the delivery of that Mothers Day promo they are going to sent all the retail florist, with an "L" on the box for Loser! I cannot understand why they would even spend money to promote this if they had an respect for their customer base.......YOU!
Take control or lose your customers.
This should send a message to all of us, they want a war.

So let me get this right... the consumer has to go to diamondsandroses.com and register their info (your customer info) with TF?

And you're promoting this....because????

Hey bloomz, thanks for opening my eyes to this one.....You know they do know we are stupid. From years of just going with the flow I find that I don't look beyond the surface and question the whys and the what is in it for them deal, but there always is something in it for them. I get so tired of always having to look beyond the obvious. I am the type of person that what I say is the whole story, I don't leave things out for my benefit. These companies all say and do onething but have a giant agenda in the background that just gets past people like me....and sometime I am all but willing to give my money, time and most importantly my information up very easily.

So you are 100% correct in the fact that they KNOW we are stupid. Sometimes I hate finding these things out about myself, it makes for a bad feeling day...but I thank you for the slap upside the head..

This promo kit they were looking at was like a sign up area, for the consumer to put their email address, your telelfora code number to verify their place of purchase, to nominate their mother for the Americas Mother.
So go into your shop, get your customer emails address from entering this contest, you give the conusmer your code number (another story)...WOW a
Americas Mother Contest, they think we are the "Mother"..........

One only has to look at the online registration page to see where this is headed: http://www.diamondsandroses.com/sweeps.asp

Yes, I would like to receive promotional email communication from Teleflora*

We may sometimes disclose your PII to our third-party business partners in order to allow them to perform certain services for us, such as, for example, delivering our products, sending postal mail and providing marketing assistance and data analysis. We may also share your PII with other selected companies from time to time. In addition, we may sometimes share your PII with other companies within our family of companies, and they may send you periodic communications that we believe will be of interest to you. So it appears entrants MUST agree to be added to TF's marketing lists and to have their info share with other companies. You can opt out later....

Oooooo, that is a low blow. Isn't it illegal to force someone to receive emails to be a part of a contest? Most companies allow you to opt out. Teleflora will hear about that too from me, they are going to love me today :)

It's actually quite brilliant, and think of how many unsuspecting florists, including one of my close friends (I WILL be talkng to him today about where his head must be located - he has that banner on his website) are promoting this???

Helll I'm calling him right now - oh this is funny and gets funnier - and we did confirm his head is up his _____.

He *thought* his customers couldn't enter without the pin number they get from the gamepiece that comes with the bouquet, and that somehow helped.

So, while he's on the phone - I just entered, using his shop information, and just put 555 into the "pin number" field.

Dang it - wouldn'tcha know I didn't win but now I'm still registered for the $50,000 earrings? I can still win! But I did get their instant email letting me know not to worry.

I can imagine the conversation in the office when the guy said "Hey hey hey, ooh ooh ooh I got a great idea!!! - we have these contests - we get florists to pay for promoting them with the coop ads, and the dumbasses will put posters in their stores and banners on their websites, and every sale they get WE get the, and, and, and ____!!!!!"

and everybody was like High Fiving him and all.

This is brilliant, truly brilliant.

SO - anybody here putting that stuff up in your shop?

C'mon, don't be shy!

Well thank you for having the Spaldings to cop to it!

There must be a Forest Gump line one should insert here. :headbang:

Just DON'T admit it if you're doing Coop ads too or you're gonna have to go stand in the corner for a couple months.

One way to get out of this stresssssssssss!
Don't order it and you wont have any problems about advertsiing, them getting your customers, recepies, etc etc

Luc

By the way I am not sure if their was suppose to send those kits to all shops or those who has ordered the product. either way as of today I have not received it.

Stupid is as stupid does.....

no, no coop ads here, I think I would be looking around to see if I had a partial labotomy if I did that....

Spaldings,,,,I like that...I am one of those that can easily admit when I do something stupid and know my shortcoming and admit them freely...
