So given that we get zero guidance from FTD, we are formulating our tactics to deal with the changes. I think it would be helpful if we all put in a couple of ways we will deal with the program. Please do not pollute this thread with opinions about the program. We've been through that.

1. Freeze the time with an ask. Since FTD won't do it, all of our asks will have a manditory response time, like "please respond in 30 minutes or we will reject"

2. The 4:30 same day. I am anticipating getting a lot of very late same day delivery requests. We will have someone make a final check of all orders right before 5:00 to make sure we reject in 2 hours.

3. Make sure you are not codified for Sunday if you don't deliver on those days.

We've also instituted a couple of things. When we were Daisy and on dial up we could hear the modem when an order came in, however, when Daisy went to high speed clearing and transmitting we only knew of anything when we heard the printer printing or glanced over and saw something on the printer. Mercury is the same way with high speed clearing and transmission.

We now have a kitchen timer that rings for one minute and we set it for 2 hour intervals in the event no one is near the printer, working in another area of the shop, etc. Last setting of the day is set for the amount of time it is til 5pm for one last check.

I'm hoping dashboard in Mercury X will have an audible alert for incoming orders that chimes til it is answered on screen. I asked for something like this when I met with Stan Gonsalvo and Deven Shah from Mercury development when I was at FTD in January. You will need to make sure the server has speakers if this is the case though, as it has no internal speakers. At least the most recent servers.

So for now the low tech way of using the timer will help us stay on track.

MAS has a new function where if things happen like the printer isn't checked or wire correspondence isn't answered timely - it shoots a squirt of water in the faces of the employees.

Quite high tech.

Just let the porno freaks get hold of this idea, they'll stand behind the monitors and it won't be water they're shootin'.....
