Do you now have a one dollar coin with an image of the Statue of Liberty on it?

Is it new?

Do you have a name for it? Canadians call our one dollar coin the "Looney" because of the Loon on the front.

Doug

yes we do.........

One side has the Statue of Liberty, and the other side has John Quincy Adams.

Our name for a one dollar coin is "One dollar coin" HA!!

Use for the new presidential $1 coins

I have been only giving $1 coins out (NO paper!) since they series started. 2 reasons, first it would save 500 million a year in printing cost to get rid of the $1 bill. Second since they are new and shiny I have found people are excited to get them and tell others where they got them and it seems to be a easy marketing idea to get people to mention my store to others. Only one complaint by a guy, women love them.

In over 30 years, I can count on one hand how many dollar coins we've had come through our register. Half dollar coins are very, very few also but a bit more than the dollar. BTW, I love the "Looney" and have quite a few.....saved them from trips and lovely friends from across the border who visit us! Would love to have one of the Olympic Looney's...

I think you'd really love the look of our "twoonies" too Rhonda.

I love this idea. When the gold dollar coins first came out, we bought a bunch and gave them out as tips, in addition to the paper $. Something to think about, changing over to coins for the shop .....

I can't fathom that it's cheaper to collect, melt, and mold metal , than to collect, process and print paper ... interesting.

Presently I have 4 gold dollar coins and 2 half dollars. I'd have more, but that's all that have come my way since opening the shop in 2000.

oops, I forgot, when I was on my cruise and my visits to the casinos in Connecticut, I had dollar coins....loved seeing and hearing them drop out of the slot machine !! (now it's mostly tickets not coin, dang)
Love that Toonie!!

coins last longer in circulation than paper money

Canada: do you even have a paper dollar and 2 dollar bill or are they only coins.

We should go that direction. No more paper dollars.

We should go that direction. No more paper dollars.

We first introduced the one dollar coin which was named the "loonie"

and then they added the two dollar coin called the toonie.

We do not have paper for those amounts.

Sorry, while I believe it is a good marketing idea, I do not support/promote the new dollar coin since they took off "In God We Trust".

In God We Trust

Clay its still on the coin, just on the side (edge) which makes it tougher to copy or counterfit.

I go through about 3 rolls a week and I get them from my bank, they may have to order them, do not let them give you the old Susn B Anthony one or the dull Sacacawea ones. Insist on just the shiny new president ones.
