...one of my fave cities!

So, the hubster and I are taking a 10th Anniversary/2nd Honeymoon trip this summer, to Niagara Falls and Toronto; that's where we went on our honeymoon (why do I keep typing honeymoom)

Anyway!

I know what there is to do in the Falls (uh, duh)
I'm looking for recommendations from Toronto locals, like great restaurants or kewl things to do.

Any input appreciated!
:)

Well, there's this very very kewl little shop called Joseph Flowers ... ;)

What date are you coming? During the summer there are several big street festivals. What area of town are you staying in? Will you have a car, or will you travel around via public transit?

Be sure to see Niagara on the Lake and the Butterfly conservatory on the way. I find once you move away from the actual falls that Niagara Falls is a little, well, cheesy. But Niagara on the Lake is very quaint.
I will let the Torontonians speak to their city! Ontario Place along the lakeshore is a nice spot though!

and if you happen to come on the second week in Aug. There is a trade show.
I would organize a meeting for anyone to meet you on the monday at a restaurant. You would be able to meet Moi, Mikey and Sandy, maybe Ryan Janis and kids, and more if they are available.

Also Like Missy said there is many street fairs going on. I think there is a site for toronto you may want to look at for other dates. etc.
Lots of infor at this url www.toronto.ca

The ROM is amazing, as is the waterfront. So much great stuff in TO.

Don't forget the Royal Botanical Gardens in Hamilton. If you want a nice lunch I really enjoyed the Movenpick restaurants in Toronto they're probably touristy but I enjoyed them.

Funny how when you live in a place, you don't really consider it ... uh ... noteworthy.

One of my favourite features of Toronto are the ravines. Visitors seldom see them or even know that they exist. Here's one that's in the very core of the city:

Very close to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) that Victoria mentioned is the Bata Shoe Museum:

One of the biggest street festivals is Taste of the Danforth, in early August:

Restaurant ... hmm ... there's so many good ones. I'd recommend a trip down Queen Street West:

and that'll put you conveniently between the theatre district and the club zone.

Where are you staying??
ROM is awesome, Bata, Textile museum there as well
AGO, Art gallery of Ontario has most amazing Henri Moore collection among other fabulous art.
Of course you can't forget the CN tower, touristy thing would of course be to dine up high in the revolving restaurant and enjoy the view from up there.
Taste of the Danforth is awesome if you are there at that time, if not, it is the best area for some great Greek dining treats, think Christina's is still there, very yum.
Jazz festival in the Beaches if that is on is unmissable, :musical:that is Queen St. East, easy to get to by streetcar all the way to Woodbine, they close the street, so much fun, but the area is well worth the short journey from downtown if it isn't on: some fab café's, patios, and restaurants like Sauvignon (very yum), next door is an awesome desert place but can't think of name, Quigley's is great, Thai house has awesome Thai, also best burgers at Lick's (miss them!), nice boardwalk for walks and some lovely flowershops to peruse! (my old neighbourhood, I love it!)
Queen West if nice shopping, some lovely boutiques and designers.
Shopping always good in Eaton Centre.
China town and Kensington Market always fun and quirky.
Cruises on lake Ontario

Will think of some more...may need to visit myself again soon!
oh and Niagara on the Lake and of course the wine tour there to all the vineyards!!:drunk:

Enjoy yourself!
