Have any of you ever built a chuppa? If so, what size did you make it? Everything I can find online says that there are no size restrictions so I just wasn't sure. Would 7' tall by 6' wide be ok? It is built that size as of right now but I can make adjustments. I'll try and post a picture after the wedding this weekend because I think it is coming out quite pretty. The entire thing is covered in sheet moss then curly willow and will have ribbon and a few flowers hanging from the corners (very natural).

Thanks for your help!

I've built 3 so far, first one was 6' by 6' wide...7' tall... did not seem to be wide enough, as when the bride and groom entered with the Rabbi at the back, they had to stand very close because of the flower decor down each pole.

The last two, I made 7x7x7 and this worked much better. Built the frame and legs out of 2"x2" pine, simply making a square top, attaching the legs with carriage bolts (for transport) and then made the top with 1/4"x2" lath strips so I could bend them up making the top arched rather than flat, and covered the whole thing with thin white cloth.

We have done a few usually with just enough space inside to allow the Bride, Groom and Rabbi to fit comfortably inside. Brides usually request it not be to large as to cut down on cost.

Wow - it sounds lovely!

This is the size we made also - we used PVC, and covered with white cloth. If it's used outside, we drive a stake into the ground, and drop the pipe onto the stake. If inside, we made heavy pots that are hidden with draping fabric.

good luck - post pics!
