Flipping through a bridal magazine last night. Saw this bouquet that was very pretty, with one odd looking flower. Looked like they chopped 1" off the head of the rose, flat cut. Turns out is was a ranunculus with slightly browned edges. Thought to myself, hmm, that's interesting. Went into the shop this morning and took a stem of spray roses, chopped 1/2-3/4" off the heads. Voila!! A ranunculus wanna be. Obviously the petals aren't rounded the way a ranunculus is, but it looks pretty close.
Am I the last on earth to discover this? Can't wait to go into the shop on monday and make an arrangement with it.

Using a rose as a substitute for ranunculus was a trick I learned several years ago. If I'm not mistaken it was while we were prepping for a Teleflora unit show.

Eufloria now grows a rose that looks very much like ranunculus, no cutting required :)
Not sure I'm all that fond of it personally but the look is interesting.
