Just got a call from 213-629-4831 from a person who I couldn't understand due to her problem with our English Language.

She purported to be calling me from TELEFLORA HEADQUARTERS while trying to give us several DO NOT REPORT ORDERS.

I asked her WHO SHE REALLY WAS and she kept insisting that, she was from TELEFLORA HEADQUARTERS.

Finally, I told her that SHE WAS A LIAR since we had terminated our membership with Teleflora way back in May of 2007, so she must be A SKIMMER trying to SCAM MEE!

Afterwards, I called back the number from CALLER ID and got a tape message which indicated this number was DISCONNECTED and there was no further information available.

Then, I googled it and the reports indicated that this number was from a Teleflora calling bank using subcontracted marketers. Sounded like she was calling me from India.

Here's the link to some comments by the posters:

Here's some of their comments:

This is apparently a customer service phonebank working for Teleflora. I received a call to clarify my order from an *extremely* inexperienced CSR. She left a message in which she didn't identify the company, couldn't describe the problem and ended by hollering to one of her co-workers for assistance -- this behavior prompted me to Google the phone number. Luckily she called back and I was able to coax out the problem: they didn't have the flowers I wanted, and were calling to get my approval for a substitution. I politely canceled my order -- problem solved.

Caller Type: Commercial

One more comment: I think it's just a very unprofessional phone bank, which Teleflora either runs or is more likely outsourcing. Doesn't seem like actual funny business, just rank beginners and poor english-speakers.

The Lovely Linda told me that, I should've taken those orders and then, put them in the shredder. Sadly, and since I hadn't had my morning coffee yet, I wasn't thinking fast enough. Next time, I'll be up to snuff though! "]

Just another SCAMMER trying to pull off a SKIMMER SCAM, ey?

I got one from this number yesterday....3:30pm for some 29.99 web item going 3 cities away same day, 2nd call to my shop, with a resounding NO!! What is it you do not understand about it!! I sent them packing and told them to call the customer back and tell them to send it tomorrow.....Not sure all that went through as the english as a second language was not really too good...

Thanks for the heads up, Toto. I told these guys to go flour their nuts last year and I'll do it again this year.

We no longer accept DNR phone orders. If HQ can't Dove it, we can't fill it. It's all about the paper trail to CYA.

THAT IS THE SOLUTION!

From now on every WS affiliated flower shop that receives an deceptive OG or Skimmed order should take that order and run it through the shredder. Forget about rejecting, just ignore it.

Who will look bad? Not you because your name isn't associated with the order, just the OG/skimmer.

Let the ws's earn their 7 pct by arbitrating the problem, if it goes that far.

why should any of us receiving florist even bother with rejections if it is going to cost us money to reject.

But the OG/Skimmer will just blame it on you.

I've toyed much with this idea in the past, but decided it would reflect badly on the industry and not the OG.

opinions vary

what say you?

Joe -

Yesterday we received an incoming TF order requesting delivery before 1 pm. At 10:30 I realized we wouldn't be able to get there in time, (party, drivers on long runs) so a team member sent an inquiry over Dove about the time issue. The reply was to refuse the order.

I took a close look and realized it was from an OG and the order had been skimmed. Sent them a request to send a Cancellation. They refused and told us to send a Refuse.

I called TF and was 'scolded' by a CSR for not refusing the order within an hour of receiving it. (We found it on the Dove upon arriving at work.) "You have a responsibility," she told me.

I told her, "You have a responsibility to police these skimming thieves. It appears neither of us are living up to our responsibilities."

I would not intentionally sabotage an order, but what turned out to be $40 skimmed OG junk does not merit us dropping everything to make their timed deadline.

One or two more like that and I'm pulling the plug on the Dove for good.

I bet that went over well!

And what Luc said!

WHOA! Now that comment would have resulted in you folks in California, Canada, and other far places hearing my screaming at this CSR! You'd probably have felt the heat of my wrath also. She surely would have. Just who does she think she is?????

Cathy, you are a true lady!

We went without the Dove from July until a couple weeks ago. It had been running through our old Daisy, whose monitor died and I was unable to find a local guy for the repair. Didn't want to install the old dial-up Dove on a PC since it basically has to run as a stand-alone. What a waste.

We went on the new DovePlus web-based system recently. (There are some interesting - and some irritating - features which I'll review later.) My hope was to streamline sending International orders (which we do a fair amount of for Christmas) and be able to conveniently send to East Coast shops 'after hours'.

That's why I'm waiting, but my patience is growing thin.

About the 213-629-4831 - We've received a few calls from there trying to place 'do not report' orders, too. I'm 99.99% sure it's the TF call center in the Philippines. When you ask where the operator is located, they tell you 'Los Angeles' and if you ask 'where in LA?', they tell you they can't give out that information. Uh-huh.....
