We donate an arrangement to the Evergreen Cemetery in Santa Cruz on Memorial Day. It's the oldest cemetery in Santa Cruz. I would like to do something different with the red, white and blue colors. I have looked through my books and can only come up with traditional wreaths, etc.
Anyone have any ideas on something different?
Thank you,
Sharon

Maybe you can draw inspiration from this link. Think of what you could possibly do to honor each one. Think of how you can repay them for their sacrifice. Sometimes it's the cause that brings out our creative spirit. Make it show your gratitude, spare no expense, make it speak for the fallen.

A flag of flowers --- red & white stripes, with blue flowers for the stars.

A large heart shaped wreath. with the red rose spray across the center, and royal blue satin ribbon framing the heart.

A wreath with solid sections -- repeating of red - white - blue.
(no bow on this one).

We do several of these (about 5 times a year) for a couple of veterans groups.

Hope this helps, Sharon.

Depending on your allocated budget - Try this idea.
-----------------------------------------------------

Take a good length of wire fencing........Take loose grapevine strands and attach to the fencing so that the grapevine resembles the lines of a bar of sheet music.......

Along the lines.....place your clusters of flowers as though they were musical notes....by placing them where the notess would fall on the sheet of music.

Follow the note placement of a patriotic song.

Have several small notes available explaining to laymen the concept of your tribute.

I first saw this idea brought to life at the DC symposium......can't recall off the top of the head who the designer was.

That's really nice, Mary Lou.

Thank you all for the ideas - Mlou that is the biggest wreath I have seen.
It's beautiful.

Cherrie - You were at DC symposium with me because I was one of your judges for the Student chapter design......Who did the musical note design on the main stage....that used the fencing.......He did other musical inspired designs as well.

Mark Erickson did a music presentation and I think that was in New York.

THANK YOU CAROL - You are right - IT WAS Mark Erickson.

That was not only a beautiful program, but that particular sheet music design......was so beautiful that I have used the concept once.
