I was wondering what you say when you get a call from .com & you want to refuse to fill for them? Do you simply state that you don't accept their orders or do you give a "valid" reason why you can't accept it? Will FTD slap me on the wrist (or worse) if I refuse??

Far as I know, all ya have to do is contact them and ask to be added to their do not call/send to list.

They don;t want to waste their time anymore then you do.

And no, they won;t slap your wrist, there was a time when I did not fill for them either, but with order values way higher than forist orders, I don't have a problem with their orders. For VD, they had 51% of my incoming, and average order value was over 70 bucks...

"Sorry, we don't fill for order gatherers!"
Had Gifttree call me with an order today and they told me they were an internet order service so I said no way. Five minutes later I answered the phone and a man from FTD said "This is FTD Headquarters calling; we have a florist who said you refused her order" (said it was Gifttree) "I said we don't fill for order gatherers and will not fill their order" That was the end of that. Half an hour later another call (supposedly from Gifttree's customer); I started to explain how the system works but she interupted me said she new all about how it works (and obviously wasn't interested in my reason for rejecting) when I realized that she was the same person who called from Gifttree. She started to give me an order to include Champagne when I stopped her and told her that we cannot deliver liquor. She claimed that she spoke to another Canadian site who said they could deliver liquor because they had a licence and hung up on me! Here in Newfoundland the government gives NO permits etc to deliver liquor under any circumstances.

Hey ya know

It's all in the triage !!!!

I'll admit that righ up front, but different strokes ya know... and TRIAGE !

That said... any one who knows me, can call my cell... lots to share !

It will be fun at Mother's Day here, no FTD and I will be getting many calls from 1-800 etc to fill their small orders....
Been practicing my lines....
Do you want fries with that???

Luc,
Don't you mean poutine???

800 called here at 4 PM the other day for funeral service. Visiting began at 5. I told her no, didn't even ask what the order was for knowing it probably was their "floor basket, glads, spiders etc"
They called the funeral home to see if they would take an order LOL. Then called me back to see again (different operator).
Still refused it. They didn't state WHICH wire service they wanted, but either way I wasn't taking the order at that time.
I have no qualms in refusing orders from anyone I suspect, especially knowing how many shops are gathering on the internet in my name. Especially when no second choices are offered. Refuse as you will.

Thanks for all your replies. My volume of incoming has gone down considerably since I discontinued my mercury, so it's phone ins now. We've had those that call & if we can't fill it, we tell them so & have always had a valid reason, but I've instructed my employees to not accept any orders from 800 or ftd.com, etc. simply because we don't. Only accept if it's florist to florist.

I've learned so much here & am striving to be a FWAC!
